Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice in 4K, plus Wind Rises, more catalog Blu-ray, and a word on MGM & Gone with the Wind
All right, a quick update today with a bit more release news...
First up though, we have two more new disc reviews for you today. Tim has checked out Richard Jefferies’ Blood Tide (1982) on Blu-ray from Arrow Video. And Dennis has turned in his thoughts on Paul Wegener and Carl Boese’s classic German expressionist tale The Golem (1920) on Blu-ray from Kino Classics. Do give them a look.
Also, we’ve just posted a new update of the Release Dates & Artwork section here at The Bits thanks to our own Russell Hammond, and it’s full of all the recently-announced Blu-ray and 4K titles. As always, whenever you order anything from Amazon through our links, you’re helping to support The Bits and we really do appreciate it.
In other news today, here’s a nice surprise: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is releasing Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice in 4K Ultra HD on 9/1! It looks like two versions will be available: A wide release standard edition and an Amazon exclusive deluxe giftset. You can see the cover art at left and also below. [Read on here...]

Celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back, plus new 4K reviews, and The Snyder Cut lives!
We’ve got some good stuff for you here at the site today! So let’s get right into it.
First of all, we’ve posted a trio of new 4K Ultra HD reviews...
Late last night, I posted my in-depth thoughts on John Landis’ The Blues Brothers, new in 4K Ultra HD from Universal. I love this film and the good news is that it’s never looked and sounded better. Check it out here.
Also today, Tim has posted reviews of Blue Underground’s new 4K Ultra HD editions of William Lustig’s Maniac (1980) and Lucio Fulci’s Zombie (1979). These too have never looked better, but do be aware that the cover artwork pictured here on The Bits is NOT the final artwork.
We have to censor the cover art on some of these horror titles or Google flags them as offensive, which crushes our advertising. And we need advertising to survive, so there it is. Anyway, enjoy the titles! Blue Underground does great work. [Read on here...]

The Invisible Man official, plus classic Dr. Who films on BD & Sony’s Columbia Classics 4K Collection detailed
All right, we’ve got some more release news today and a follow-up on recent news as well...
First though, Tim has turned in his thoughts on Andrew Lane’s Jake Speed (1986), recently released on Blu-ray by Arrow Video.
Now them, first up today: I’ve officially confirmed with Universal Studios Home Entertainment that they have not officially announced the release of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws on 4K Ultra HD yet. HOWEVER... they will be doing so soon. So we’ll have the officially details for you when they do.
I guess this is a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, or more likely there are simply a LOT of people who need to weigh in and approve such things before they get officially announced. Which we expect to happen soonish. [Read on here...]

Universal (sort of) sets Jaws for 4K Ultra HD release on June 2nd, plus RIP Second Spin
The news today is brief, but we’ve got a couple things to report today...
First though, Tim has reviewed a couple of Blu-ray titles for you, including Universal’s Munster, Go Home! (1966) from Scream Factory and Bone Tomahawk (2015), a kind of western horror film from RLJ Entertainment starring Kurt Russell.
But the big news today is that Universal is releasing Steven Spielberg’s Jaws as a 45th Anniversary Edition on 4K Ultra HD on 6/2.
Of course, we first mentioned this title was coming many weeks ago here at The Bits. You can now consider the release almost—but not quite—official. [Read on here...]

New for the Coronapocalypse: V: The Final Battle on BD, Dawn of the Dead 4K in October, 1917 4K reviewed & more!
All right, we’re here at The Bits today closing out what I must say is one of the more interesting weeks I’ve experienced in my 52 years on this planet.
But we’ve got a new review to keep you amused this afternoon: I’ve just turned in my thoughts on Sam Mendes’ Best Picture-nominated 1917 in 4K Ultra HD. It’s an impressive A/V experience with a native 4K digital intermediate, Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HDR10+ high dynamic range, a fine Dolby Atmos sound mix, and dazzling Oscar-winning cinematography by Roger Deakins. There are even a couple of fine audio commentaries on the disc too. Don’t miss it.
Also today, our friends at The Warner Archive Collection have just officially announced no less than SEVEN great new catalog Blu-ray titles that are coming in April. [Read on here...]

BREAKING: Parasite confirmed for 4K on 6/2 (and we have the cover art), plus Curse of the Werewolf
All right, I’m currently working on a review of Universal’s 1917 in 4K Ultra HD, which I hope to have up here on the site later today.
In the meantime, I’ve officially confirmed with the studio that Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite is indeed coming to the 4K Ultra HD format here in the States on 6/2.
However, some of the cover artwork that you may have seen floating around the Internet is incorrect. The official final cover artwork for the title is visible on the left there.
Audio should be the usual DTS:X, and the extras will be the same as those found on the previously released Blu-ray version (reviewed here on The Bits). More details should follow soon. [Read on here...]
Blues Brothers 4K will have BOTH cuts, plus The Mask of Zorro 4K, Parasite 4K in the States & more
I’ve spent (and continue to spend) most of the afternoon today chasing down interesting leads regarding upcoming Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD releases. As a result, we’ve got a couple of good items for you today...
First though, we’ve got another new BD review from Tim, who checks in with his thoughts on Fred Wolf’s animated The Point (1971), now on Blu-ray from the MVD Rewind Collection. Be sure to give it a look.
Also today, we’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List (with some new UHD titles I’m about to mention) and also our Release Dates & Artwork section with all of the latest Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K cover art and Amazon.com pre-order links. By the way, if you find that the section is missing some titles, it’s due to issues on Amazon’s side, not our end. They’re just making it very difficult for some titles to be found in their database for whatever reason. But we do appreciate your support when you order titles from them though our links—it matters, and we’re grateful for it. [Read on here...]

The Blues Brothers, BTTF & Jaws 4K confirmed by Uni, plus Shout/Scream’s June slate & Max von Sydow RIP
All right, we’re working on a bunch of things today, but we wanted to chime in quickly with this...
Universal is officially bringing The Blues Brothers, Jaws, and Back to the Future to 4K Ultra HD this year. We’ve been saying that the titles were coming for a while now (because we knew that from our industry sources) and we’ve had the titles listed in our 4K Ultra HD Release List for months.
But I’ve now gotten the studio to confirm on the record that Jaws and Blues Brothers are indeed coming to the format this year (BTTF was confirmed last year). Street date is still TBA, but expect them likely this summer.
I’ve also gotten the studio to confirm that what you see at left is indeed the final 4K cover artwork for John Landis’ The Blues Brothers on the format. [Read on here...]

A sneak peek at upcoming 4K covers for Spartacus, Jaws & more (plus Blue Underground’s 2nd 4K title)
All right, there’s not a whole lot going on today news-wise, so we’re busy working on new disc reviews.
But we did want to check in briefly with a new interesting odds and ends.
To start with, we have a sneak peek at temp cover artwork from our retail sources (in Europe in this case) for Universal’s Spartacus and Jaws on 4K Ultra HD, which are expected to street widely in June or July (street date TBA). You can see Jaws at left and both of them below. This should be close to final, but know that it’s not actually final until the studio officially announces the titles.
Also coming from Universal on 6/2 (only at Best Buy stores in the US) is a new 4K Ultra HD Steelbook version of Ron Howard’s Apollo 13. You also can see that below. [Read on here...]

The Bits presents a 2020 Ultra HD Release Update: MAJOR catalog titles are coming to physical 4K this year!
All right, many of you have asked about (or otherwise understandably bemoaned) the lack of big or significant announcements relating to catalog films on 4K Ultra HD lately. So today’s update here at The Digital Bits is about addressing that concern.
And while we still have little in the way of official announcements at the moment, I can confidently report that at least some of titles you’re waiting for are on the way in 2020.
The information in today’s post should be considered unofficial until the studios in question make their actual announcements. But we believe it to be a reliable gauge of titles currently in the production pipeline or planning stages.
First, we know for sure that Disney is going to be releasing Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga on 4K coinciding with the Blu-ray and 4K release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, likely in March. [Read on here...]
