Untouchables 4K, a new Raiders UHD Steelbook, Police Around the World on Blu-ray, William Hurt RIP & more
We’ve got more new disc reviews for you to enjoy today, including a couple that we posted over the weekend...
First up, Tim and Dennis have taken a look at Billy Wilder’s Some Like It Hot (1959) in 4K Ultra HD from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.
I’ve also posted my thoughts on Steven Spielberg’s new West Side Story on 4K Ultra HD from 20th Century Studios.
And Tim has offered his thoughts on Philip Marshak’s Dracula Sucks (1978) in 4K Ultra HD as well, an infamous adult genre title available from Vinegar Syndrome.
Finally, Dennis has posted his take on Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci on regular Blu-ray too.
More new disc reviews are on the way soon, so be sure to check back for them in the coming days, including my in-depth look at Paramount’s The Godfather Trilogy in 4K. I had the chance to watch the films over the weekend, and let me tell you: They’ve simply never looked better. The new 2020 restoration is a night and day improvement upon the already fine 2007 restoration that was released previously on Blu-ray, so you’re definitely not going to want to miss this new set. Media Play News announces the winners of its Home Entertainment Awards, plus Africa Screams 3D reviewed & more
Afternoon, folks! We hope you all had a lovely weekend.
We’ve got just a very quick update today here at The Bits, as there’s not a ton of news to report on this afternoon.
First though, Tim has turned in a review of a new Blu-ray 3D release from Classic Flix and our friends at the 3-D Film Archive: The Africa Screams: Special Limited Edition, the 1949 Universal comedy featuring Bud Abbott and Lou Costello
It’s a great disc, so do check out Tim’s thoughts on it here. [Read on here...]

Sony sets Snatch for 4K, KL Studio Classics’ replacement program, vote in Media Play News’ Home Entertainment Awards, and Yaphet Kotto RIP
Today I’m diving into work on more disc reviews here at The Bits, especially new 4K titles. So today’s update will be fairly quick. However, we do have some interesting odds and ends to report after yesterday’s flood of major news, and we have Amazon pre-order links for a bunch of newly-announced titles to share with you too.
First, some Blu-ray reviews... Tim has taken a look at Don Siegel’s The Beguiled (1971), which was released late last year on Blu-ray by Kino Lorber Studio Classics. He’s also given one of the last Hammer Films titles a spin on Blu-ray from Scream Factory, Terence Fisher’s Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (1974). Both discs are worth your time.
A quick note on the subject of Kino Lorber Studio Classic: It appears that they inadvertently used the wrong master for their recent Blu-ray of Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (reviewed here on The Bits). The company is correcting this by replicating new replacement discs that use the proper 2017 4K restoration and you can request a copy by filling out this form on the Kino Lorber website.
Now then... the big announcement news today is that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially set Guy Ritchie’s Snatch for release on 4K Ultra HD on 6/1. [Read on here...]
