Keep in mind that 9/8 marks 56th anniversary of the debut of Star Trek: The Original Series on NBC.
The previously released “first wave” titles (Star Trek II, III, and IV) will obviously be the same discs just in new packaging.
We expect that the new-to-4K titles will also appear as remastered Blu-rays the same day.
We don’t yet know which version(s) of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country will be included, nor do we know if the new Star Trek: The Motion Picture SKU will include only the Director’s Edition or the previously-released Theatrical Version as well.
We don’t know what extras will be included yet, nor if any new extras have been created.
Again, it continues to be our belief that The Next Generation films will arrive in 4K next year, to coincide with the final season of Star Trek: Picard on Paramount+ or physical media.
We expect at least some of these questions to be answered when the studio makes their official announcement, which we now expect could happen as soon as tomorrow.
So... stand by and hold your questions until we know more, which we expect to do very soon.
As always, we’ll check back here the moment we know more. Stay tuned...
