Speaking of Warner Bros., we’ve learned from our friend Tim Millard’s excellent The Extras podcast that the Warner Archive Collection is attempting to reconstruct ABC’s original The Bugs Bunny Show TV series from 1960-1968. This is a long-term project, however, because it’s going to take time to locate all the original film assets. Still, it’s a nice bit of news for Looney Tunes fans.
While we’re on the topic of Looney Tunes, Tim’s shared a good post about the new The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie on The Bits’ Patreon page here, for those of you who subscribe.
Universal and Focus Films have set Alex Parkinson’s Last Breath (2025) for Blu-ray and DVD release on 4/29. There does not, at the moment, appear to be any physical 4K plans for the title.
Umbrella Films will release Parkpoom Wongpoom’s Shutter (2004) in 4K Ultra HD on 5/16 in the US, followed by Ted Kotcheff’s Wake in Fright (aka Outback) (1971) in 4K UHD on 6/4.
The company has further announced their July Blu-ray slate, which is set to include the Michael Haneke Collection (1976-2012)—including the films Three Paths to the Lake (1976), Lemmings Part 1 & Part 2 (1979), Seventh Continent (1989), Benny’s Video (1992), The Rebellion (1993), 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance (1994), The Castle (1997), Funny Games (1997), Code Unknown (2000), The Piano Teacher (2001), Time of the Wolf (2003), Hidden (2005), The White Ribbon (2009), and Amour (2012)—as well as Ozploitation Rarities: Volume 3—which includes Scobie Malone (1975), Goodbye Paradise (1982), and The Empty Beach (1985)—Michel Gondry’s The Silence of Sleep (2007), Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s Intacto (2003), and Scott Chambers’ Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare (2025). All are due to street on 7/9.
Umbrella has also revealed that they’ve acquired the rights to release Hal Needham’s Rad (1986) in 4K, and they’re restoring Brian Trenchard-Smith’s BMX Bandits (1983) in 4K as well. So watch for those to be released on 4K disc in the coming months.
And Shudder has set Demian Rugna’s When Evil Lurks (2023) for 4K release on 6/3.
A quick bit of follow up for those of you who purchased Sony’s recent 4K Ultra HD release of Little Women (1994) (you can find our review of the title here): The company has quietly announced a replacement program for the disc, which inadvertently omitted the left and right channels (mixing them to the center channel instead). To obtain your replacement copy, email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and be prepared to include the original purchase receipt. Thanks to Bits reader Todd E. for the heads up.
