All right, we have a few more new disc reviews to share with you this morning, including…

Tim’s thoughts on Guy Magar’s Lookin’ Italian (1994) on Blu-ray from Severin Films.

Dennis’ take on William Richert’s A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon (1988) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics and Shane Meadows’ TwentyFourSeven (1997) on Blu-ray from Imprint Films.

Stephen’s look at Richard Attenborough’s A Bridge Too Far (1977) in Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics, as well as Ivan Passer’s Cutter’s Way (1981) in 4K Ultra HD from Radiance Films.

And Stuart’s review of the Warner Archive’s Fred Astaire Collection on Blu-ray, which includes Easter Parade (1948), The Band Wagon (1953), Silk Stockings (1957), and Finian’s Rainbow (1968). Stuart has also reviewed Peter Yates’ Summer Holiday (1963) on Blu-ray from Indicator’s Cliff in Color! box set.

Now then, the big news we want to share with you today is that pre-orders have finally begin for Disney’s Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD release of James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash (2026), all of which are set to street on 5/19. [Read on here...]

To reiterate, there will be a wide release 4K Ultra HD, a 4K Steelbook, a Blu-ray 3D package, a wide release Blu-ray, and a DVD. In addition, there will be a 9-disc 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray 3-Movie Collection, a 3-disc Blu-ray 3-Movie Collection, and a 3-disc DVD 3-Movie Collection.

I should also note that if Disney and 20th Century Studios follow the same pattern of physical media releases that they established with the recent 4K and Blu-ray reissue of the original Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), this initial release is a more basic edition. It’s almost certain that an Avatar : Fire and Ash – Collector’s Edition will follow in December for the holidays.

And keep in mind, the Collector’s Edition 4K and Blu-ray typically include an additional bonus disc of special features, resulting in a more complete and comprehensive package for fans. In any case, I’ve linked each version (above) to their respective Amazon pre-order pages for those who may be interested.

Also today, our friends at Radiance Films in the UK have revealed their July slate, which includes Robert Bierman’s Vampire’s Kiss (1988) in 4K Ultra HD as well as Two Boxes: Televised Terror in Fancisco’s Spain BD—which includes Antonio Mercero’s La cabina (1972) and Chicho Ibáñez Serrador’s El televisor (1974)—both on July 30.

The good folks at Via Vision’s Imprint Films are releasing Tobe Hooper’s Lifeforce (1985) in 4K Ultra HD has a Limited Edition hardbox on 5/12. It will include Dolby Vision HDR, English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and both new and legacy features. The set will also include both the Theatrical Cut and the International Cut in both 4K and Blu-ray.

Another 4K title coming from Imprint in May is Roman Polanski’s The Ninth Gate (1999) on May 27, also with Dolby Vision, DTS-HD MA, and both new and legacy extras.

Also coming from Imprint in May are new Blu-ray Limited Editions, including Simon West’s When a Stranger Calls (2006), Phil Karlson’s Framed (1975), Franklin J. Schaffner’s The Boys from Brazil (1978), George P. Cosmatos’ Escape to Athena (1979) and The Cassandra Crossing (1976), Paul Wendkos’ Cannon for Cordoba (1970), and Jerry Jameson’s Raise the Titanic (1980).

Meanwhile, Blue Underground has just announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of Dick Mass’ The Lift (1983), as well as a Blu-ray edition of their recent 4K restoration of Lucio Fulci’s Zombie (1979). Look for both to street on 6/30.

Lionsgate has set James Sweeney’s Twinless (2025) for release on Blu-ray on 5/12.

Sony is bringing the recent 4K restoration of Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting (1996) back to theaters on 6/5 in honor of the film’s 30th anniversary. The title is already available on 4K disc from Criterion.

Radial Entertainment has revealed that it’s bring Snowpiercer: The Complete Series to Blu-ray on 5/19, complete with over 80 minutes of bonus features.

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has announced more new titles, including William Dear’s Harry and the Hendersons (1987), Tomas Alfredson’s The Snowman (2017), and Howard Deutch’s The Great Outdoors (1988), each in both 4K UHD and Blu-ray on 5/26. Following on 6/2 is the Jean Gabin as Inspector Maigret (1958-63) Blu-ray box set. On 6/8, look for a DVD double feature of Death Ship (1980) and Terror Train (1980). And Jorge Fons’ Jory (1973) and John Krish’s Unearthly Stranger (1963) round things out on Blu-ray on 6/16.

KLSC has also revealed that Trey Parker’s Orgazmo (1997) is coming soon to 4K (street date TBA), as are Wes Craven’s Deadly Blessing (1981) and Wilford Leach’s The Pirates of Penzance (1983). And coming soon to Blu-ray are Frank Borzage’s Till We Meet Again (1944) and Joseph Kane’s The Maverick Queen (1959).

Well Go USA has announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of William Pisciotta and Gene Gallerano’s The Yeti (2026) on 5/19.

And Ignite Films and Eagle Rock Pictures are releasing Joseph H. Lewis’ The Big Combo (1955) as a beautifully-restored 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray Combo Steelbook that includes the film in both formats, plus new and legacy extras, as well as a bonus film— Robert Florey’s The Crooked Way (1949). This is all in honor of the film’s 70th anniversary. Two different 4K Steelbook covers will be available, as well as standard 4K and Blu-ray SKUs. Look for all of them to ship this week sometime (you can pre-order here).

Finally today, I wanted to call your attention to the fact that Michael Ritchie’s original The Bad News Bears (1976) turns 50 this week! So in honor of the event, be sure to check out our own Michael Coate’s terrific History, Legacy & Showmanship retrospective look back at the film from a decade ago, on the occasion of its 40th anniversary. You’ll find that here—enjoy!

Back with more soon. Stay tuned…
