Today’s update here at The Bits is going to be quick one, as we’re working on a bunch of big new Blu-ray reviews that we’re trying to get posted over the next week or so.
Speaking of which, I’ve posted my thoughts on James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, as newly released on Blu-ray 3D this week from Disney. All right, you fans have been waiting for this for a very long time, but I’m happy to report at long last that this is official folks. Space: 1999 – The Complete Second Series is now planned by Network Distributing for release on remastered Blu-ray and DVD in Q3 of 2015 (so about this time next year). Episodes will be HD remastered in the original 1.33:1 TV aspect ratio. There will be lots of special features. Further details will be available in the months ahead. Meanwhile, for fans that can’t wait that long, Network is taking a page from CBS and releasing the second series two-part episode The Bringers of Wonder as a Blu-ray special edition on 12/8 of this year. It will only be available via the networkonair.com website and is limited to just 1,999 copies. Preorders are on now. (Note that this is a Region B release, but we’re confirming whether it will be released here in the States and who the distributor is. Possibly Lionsgate. We’ll let you know.) Of those who purchase this Blu-ray, all will be entered in a special drawing to win one of three copies of The Complete Second Series when it’s finally released. [Read on here…]

So… have any of you guys seen Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy yet? I can’t say that I have, but Dr. Jahnke, Tim Salmons and a number of other Bits staffers took the ride this past weekend and say the film is pretty darned terrific. We’re getting that report from lots of Bits readers too. So if you want a great and fun summer blockbuster that’s good for adults, but that you can take the kids to as well, it sounds like this is the one. I’ll be going in the next couple days.
Here at The Bits today, our very own Dr. Adam Jahnke is holding court at some length on the subject of CBS’ new Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery Blu-ray release. You will be quite pleased to hear that it’s a darn fine cup of coffee, with a pretty good slice of cherry pie on the side. Don’t miss his review. [Read on here…]
