Today’s update is a quick one, but we’ve got some good announcement news and a bunch of new disc reviews for you to enjoy. So as always, let’s start with the latter first...

I’ve now posted my thoughts on Cary Joji Fukunaga’s No Time to Die in Ultra HD from MGM and Universal, which offers a stunning 4K image, a very good Dolby Atmos mix, and a lean batch of extras that actually includes a nice 4K exclusive feature.

I’ve also reviewed Ridley Scott’s latest medieval drama, The Last Duel, new on 4K Ultra HD from 20th Century Studios. The film stars Matt Damon, Adam Driver, Jodie Comer, and Ben Affleck, and borrows liberally from Akira Kurosawa’s Rashomon.

Tim’s been busy reviewing as well, delivering his thoughts on William Lustig’s Maniac Cop 2 (1990) in 4K UHD from Blue Underground, as well as Budd Boetticher’s Wings of the Hawk in Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D from Kino Lorber Studio Classics (with a restoration by the 3-D Film Archive). And our most epic review today comes from Stephen, who’s just spent several days diving into GKIDS and Shout! Factory’s Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Complete Series – Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray box set, which includes all 26 episodes of Hideaki Anno’s original anime series, along with the Evangelion: Death and Rebirth feature film and its two revision versions, and The End of Evangelion feature film. Plus you get lots of extras, as well as the classic dubbed/subbed version of the series’ episodes and the films. Finally, there’s a set of art cards and a booklet. The Limited Collector’s Edition set is only available from the Shout! website, but you can get The Complete Series in a regular Blu-ray edition on Amazon.com.

Whew!

In announcement news this afternoon, the Warner Archive Collection would like you all to know that Angels with Dirty Faces (1938) and Ivanhoe (1952) are now available from them on Blu-ray, each remastered from new 4K scans of the original camera negatives. They also have Cry Macho and The Many Saints of Newark available in 4K Ultra HD, as well as NBC’s Manifest: The Complete Third Season on DVD only.

Finally today, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of Halloween Kills on 1/11/22. The Digital release is expected on 12/14. Each version will include the Theatrical and Extended Cuts of the film. Both the Blu-ray and 4K will include Dolby Atmos sound. The 4K will also feature both HDR10 and Dolby Vision high dynamic range. Extras will include audio commentary (with David Gordon Green, Jamie Curtis, and Judy Greer), a gag reel, deleted and extended scenes, and 6 featurettes (Haddonfield’s Open Wounds, The Kill Team, Strode Family Values, 1978 Transformations, The Power of Fear, and Kill Count). You can see the cover artwork above left and also below.

We’ll leave you today with a look at the cover art for a few of the titles mentioned above, with Amazon.com pre-order links if available...
