Our friends at Shout! Factory have set Weird Al’s UHF: 25th Anniversary Edition for Blu-ray release on 11/11, along with The Compleat Al on DVD. UHF will include audio commentary, video of the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con Panel, deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes footage, music video, production stills, Easter eggs, and promotional materials. The packaging will also include the usual reversible cover art insert. Meanwhile, The Compleat Al is a ‘mockumentary’ that also includes the classic music videos for: Ricky, I Love Rocky Road, Eat It, I Lost on Jeopardy, This Is the Life, Like a Surgeon, One More Minute, and Dare to Be Stupid.
Warner Bros has set Tammy for Blu-ray Combo, DVD and digital release on 11/11 (SRP $35.99 and $28.98 for the discs). Extras will include an Extended Cut of the film, the Tammy’s Road Trip Checklist featurette, deleted scenes, a gag reel and something called Fun Extras which we don’t have any idea what the hell that is, but there it is in the press release.
HBO has set True Blood: The Complete Series for Blu-ray and DVD release on 11/11 (SRP $299.98 and $249.99), though Amazon has them for 30% less each here…
20th Century Fox has just revealed a Sons of Anarchy: The Collector’s Set box for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/11 as well (SRP TBA). Each box set includes Seasons 1-6 of the show, and has an empty slot to add the 7th and final Season when it streets on disc in early 2015. It comes packaged in a recreation of the SAMCRO Reaper clubhouse table and the discs are housed in a hardcover book with images and liner notes. Fox has also announced that the Blu-ray release of the Rain Man: 25th Anniversary Edition is now available in stores (street date 9/2), including 3 audio commentaries (one with director Barry Levinson, one with screenwriter Barry Morrow, and another with screenwriter Ronald Bass), 2 featurettes (Journey of Rain Man and Lifting the Fog: A Look at the Mysteries of Autism), deleted scenes, and the film’s trailer.
Meanwhile, Paramount will release Happy Christmas on DVD only on 11/11.
TDC Entertainment has set the documentary Bee People for DVD only release on 9/9.
PBS has set Operation Maneater for DVD only release on 9/9.
And Cohen Media Group has set Claude Lanzmann’s The Last of the Unjust for Blu-ray release 9/23.
Finally today, are any of you fans of Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier? Do you live in the L.A. area? Amoeba Music in Hollywood is holding a special signing event with directors Anthony and Joe Russo on Tuesday 9/9 (at 6 PM). They’ll be signing copies of the film on Blu-ray.
