In announcement news today, Paramount is distributing new complete series DVD sets of a number of popular Paramount, CBS, Comedy Central, and Showtime (etc) shows, starting with Reno 911 on 11/4, and followed by Beauty and the Beast, Charmed, The Tudors, Family Ties, and Taxi on 11/11.
Fans of the new Doctor Who will be pleased to learn that the just-aired season premiere, Doctor Who: Deep Breath, is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on 9/9 (SRP $24.98 and $19.98). Extras will include a prequel sequence and Behind the Scenes featurette only seen in theaters, the Doctor Who Live: The Next Doctor casting announcement video and The Real History of Science Fiction: Episode 4 – Time documentary.
Lionsgate is releasing Little House on the Prairie: The Complete Series on Digital HD on 9/9, the same day as Little House on the Prairie: Season Three – Deluxe Remastered Edition on Blu-ray and DVD.
Shout! Factory has set Sgt. Bilko/The Phil Silvers Show: The Complete Series for DVD release on 11/4. All 142 episodes will be included on 20 DVDs with absolutely abundant extras – commentaries, interviews, rare specials and clips, etc.
Universal is releasing Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/28.
Universal is releasing a Film Noir 10-Film Spotlight Collection on DVD on 11/4, including Double Indemnity, Touch of Evil, Criss Cross, The Killers (1946), This Gun for Hire (1942), Phantom Lady, Black Angel, The Big Clock, The Glass Key, and The Blue Dahlia.
Universal has also set a Bing Crosby: The Silver Screen Collection for DVD only release on 11/11, including College Humor, Mississippi, Waikiki Wedding, Sing You Sinners, If I Had My Way, Birth of the Blues, Going My Way, Here Come the Waves, Welcome Stranger, The Emperor Waltz, Road to Singapore, Road to Morocco, We’re Not Dressing, Rhythm on the Range, Double or Nothing, East Side of Heaven, Rhythm on the River, Holiday Inn, Blue Skies, Variety Girl, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, Road to Zanzibar, Road to Utopia, and Here Is My Heart.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has set the comedy Sex Tape for Blu-ray and DVD on 10/21 (SRP $35.99 and $30.99). Blu-ray extras will include 2 featurettes (Filming the Sex Tape and Meet Hank Rosenbaum), deleted & extended scenes, bloopers, and Line-O-Rama.
Sony has also set the sci-fi spoof Space Station 76 for DVD only release on 9/30 (SRP $26.99). Extras will include the Zero Gravity: Making Space Station 76 featurette, outtakes, and deleted scenes. Also coming from the studio on 10/28 on DVD only is Grave: The Possession.
Sony is also re-soliciting the Breaking Bad: The Complete Series “Barrel” Edition on 10/28 (SRP is $299.99 but Amazon has it for $209.99).
Meanwhile, 20th Century Fox is releasing the sci-fi adventure Earth to Echo on Blu-ray/DVD Combo and DVD on 10/21.
Amazon pre-orders are also on for Fox’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3D, but street dates are still TBA.
FUNimation has set the anime A Certain Magical Index: Season One for Blu-ray release on 11/18.
PBS has set Masterpiece: Worricker – Turks & Caicos and Masterpiece: Worricker – Salting the Battlefield for Blu-ray and DVD release on 11/18.
And Raro Video is delivering Rino di Silvestro’s Werewolf Woman on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/28.
