Meanwhile today, our retail sources are telling us that Disney and Marvel have moved up the anticipated street date for Avengers: Endgame on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD to 8/13 (from 8/20). All three Iron Man films will likely arrive on 4K on that day as well. And as you may have seen from our post last week (see here), all of the remaining Marvel Cinematic Universe catalog films are expected to arrive on 4K by the end of the year. Also today, our friends at Shout! Factory have just announced the extras you can expect to find on their forthcoming release of Space: 1999 – The Complete Series on Blu-ray (due 7/16). All the episodes are recently remastered and feature both the original mono and new 5.1 mixes.
New content will include 4 new featurettes (Mission to Moonbase Alpha: An Interview with Actress Barbara Bain, Into the Uncertain Future: An Interview with Actor Nick Tate, Brain Behind the Destruction: An Interview with Director Kevin Connor, and Moonbase Merch: A Tour of Space: 1999 Ephemera with Author John Muir), a new audio commentary by author Anthony Taylor on Dragon’s Domain and The Metamorph, and a new audio commentary by Space: 1999 Series Expert Scott Michael Bosco on Ring Around the Moon.
Legacy extras (carried over from previous Blu-ray and DVD releases) will include audio commentary by Series co-creator Gerry Anderson on Breakaway and Dragon’s Domain, These Episodes (nearly 100 minutes of reflections by the cast and crew), 3 featurettes (Memories of Space, Concept and Creation, and Special Effects and Design), 5 cast and crew featurettes (Interview with Sylvia Anderson, Guardian of Piri Remembered with Actress Catherine Schell, Vintage Year Two Interviews, Vintage Brian Johnson Interview, and Behind the Scenes Footage with Brian Johnson Commentary), Martin Landau and Barbara Bain TV promos, promos for Year One and Year Two, trailers for Destination Moonbase Alpha and Alien Attack, Blackpool “Space City” Exhibition Advert, Lyons Maid Ice Lolly Advert, photo galleries, and a 16-page episode guide book.
