We’ve got a new Pick-Ups column from Tim for this week, featuring new reviews of George Miller’s The Road Warrior and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome on Blu-ray, as well as Mark Hartley’s Not Quite Hollywood documentary on the history of Ozploitation film. All of this is obviously in honor of the new Mad Max: Fury Road film now in theaters. It’s really a terrific film, so do check it out. The reviews don’t lie on this one. Meanwhile, enjoy the column and reviews.  [Read on here…]

Kino Lorber has set Unwanted for Blu-ray and DVD release on 7/14. Kino has also added Wolfgang Peterson’s Shattered (1991) to their “coming soon” BD release slate.

Starz and Anchor Bay have set Woman in Gold for Blu-ray and DVD release on 7/7. The film stars Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds.

By the way, if any of you guys are into Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, I’d like to recommend an amazing book called 2001: The Lost Science (click here for its Amazon order page) by Adam Johnson. It’s an oversize paperback that includes a wealth of rare photos, sketches and blueprints from the collection of production designer Frederick Ordway III. It also comes with a bonus DVD Video disc of additional documentary content (as well as PDF research materials via DVD-ROM). If you’re as fascinated by the film’s spacecraft and sets as we are, it’s worth your attention.

Here’s a look at that Criterion cover artwork (along with It Follows)...

Day for Night (Criterion Blu-ray Disc)    Dressed to Kill (Criterion Blu-ray Disc)    It Follows (Blu-ray Disc)

The French Lieutenant's Woman (Criterion Blu-ray)    Two Days, One Night (Criterion Blu-ray)    Night and the City (Criterion Blu-ray)

Back tomorrow with more. Stay tuned!
