All right, we’ve got a bunch of new disc reviews for you today, including…

Tim’s looks at Marcus Nispel’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) and Michael Gornick’s Creepshow 2 (1987) both in 4K Ultra HD from Arrow Video, as well as Mike Hodges’ Get Carter (1971) in 4K Ultra HD from our friends at the Warner Archive Collection.

Stephen’s thoughts on Tsui Hark’s Peking Opera Blues (1986) in 4K Ultra HD from Shout! Studios’ new Hong Kong Cinema Classics line.

Dennis’s take on Daniel Petrie’s Lifeguard (1976) on Blu-ray from Paramount via Imprint Films, as well as Ryan Archibald’s Screamityville (2025) on Blu-ray from MVD Entertainment.

And finally, Stuart’s review of Peter Fleischmann’s Weak Spot (1975) on Blu-ray from Gaumont Distribution via Radiance Films.

Trust me when I say this next bit: We have a LOTN more reviews in the works from the entire Bits review team, so definitely be sure to keep checking back over the coming days.

Now then… my apologies for not sharing a My Two Cents post here on the site yesterday. I’d fully intended to have one up, and suddenly a bunch of calls, emails, and messages came in from sources and I found myself going down a rabbit hole of chasing down some really interesting bits of industry news and title release rumors. You’ll see the result of that effort here over the next couple of weeks.

In terms of today’s news items, here’s the big one: Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has just finally officially announced the 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital release of the animated The Emperor’s New Groove (2000) on 12/9, just as we expected and have been reporting for a few months now. [Read on here...]

The film will be presented in its original 1.66:1 aspect ratio on a 66GB disc, with English Dolby Atmos audio (the Blu-ray will have English 5.1 DTS-HD MA). Both discs will also include 2.0 Descriptive Audio, and French and Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital, with English SDH, French, and Spanish subtitles. We believe that most of the legacy special features will carry over on the Blu-ray. Note that the film will briefly return to the big screen at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre from 11/21-24. And it will arrive on Digital platforms on 12/9 as well. We don’t get have the final cover artwork yet, but you can see some temp art above left.

Speaking of Disney, the company has reported that The Fantastic Four: The First Steps (2025) will arrive for streaming on Disney+ on 11/5, and it will feature the expanded IMAX Enhanced aspect ratio, unlike the recent 4K Ultra HD disc release (reviewed here at The Bits) which is 2.39:1 only. They’ve also announced that Freakier Friday (2025) arrives on Disney+ a week later on 11/12.

In other news today, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has officially set Justin Tipping’s HIM (2025) for Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release on 11/11. The film is produced by Jordan Peele via Monkeypaw Productions. Extras will include audio commentary with Tipping, 5 deleted scenes, a deleted end credits scene, and an alternate ending, as well as 5 featurettes (Becoming Them, The Sport of Filmmaking, Anatomy of a Scene: Rebirth, Anatomy of a Scene: A Diabolical Game of Catch, and Hymns of a GOAT).

Our friends down under at Via Vision have announced two new Imprint Television Blu-ray releases that are due in January, including Rod Serling’s The Night Gallery: The Complete Collection and Supercar: The Complete Series! The former will be a 10-disc set that includes all 43 episodes plus the pilot film along with a bonus disc and a TON of extras, including a ridiculous number of audio commentaries. The latter will be a 5-disc set that includes all 39 episodes plus new and legacy extras. Each comes in hardbox packaging and is limited to 1500 copies. The street date is 1/7/26. Here’s what they’ll look like…

Imprint Television January 2026 titles

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has revealed that Howard Deutsch’s The Great Outdoors (1988) is coming soon to 4K Ultra HD. The street date is TBA.

Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment will release the HBO series Task: The Complete First Season on Blu-ray and DVD on 4/21/26. Word is it will include all 7 episodes plus behind-the-scenes content for each.

And Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Sony Pictures Classics have revealed that Scarlett Johannson’s Eleanor the Great (2025) will street on Blu-ray and DVD on 11/25, with the Digital version now available.

Now then, in other news today, here’s something good: Our friends at Lionsgate Limited have just kicked off a new Halloween Flash Sale for subscribers!
