We’re starting today with two more new Blu-ray reviews here at The Bits. The first is Tim’s look at Piers Haggard’s 1983 horror film Venom, which is now available from our friends at Blue Underground. The second is Jim Hemphill’s take on Ralph Nelson’s Lilies of the Field (1963) from Twilight Time, another great limited edition catalog release.

Also here at The Bits today, our own Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray and DVD cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. Please remember that anything at all that you order from Amazon (after clicking through any of our links) helps to support our work here at The Bits and we greatly appreciate it. It makes all the difference in allowing us to keep covering Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K news for you guys. So, thank you!  [Read on here…]

All right, we’ve got a couple things for you today...

First up, as you may have noticed, my review of Fox’s Deadpool on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format went live yesterday afternoon. You can find that here, and I’ll have more on the subject in just a moment. The 4K disc looks and sounds absolutely fantastic, and the included Blu-ray is actually quite a surprisingly nice little special edition too. Don’t miss it.

Also here at the site today, we’ve got a new Blu-ray review from Jim Hemphill, featuring his thoughts on Mike Hodges’ A Prayer for the Dying (1987), now available on disc in HD from Twilight Time. Do check it out.  [Read on here…]

Today’s post is a quick one, but we’ve got a few important updates for you...

First, we’ve confirmed with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment that their forthcoming Independence Day: 20th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray should include nearly all of the bonus features from previous releases with the exception of the interactive game that was present on the last Blu-ray release. We hope to have the full list soon, as well as an update on the release of UHD release of ID4K (probably day and date with BD and DVD, but we’re waiting for official confirmation of that).  [Read on here…]

All right, there’s not much in the way of news release news to report today, so I’ve got two quick items for you this afternoon…

First, I’ve just posted my in-depth review of Warner’s Mad Max: Fury Road in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. The disc streets today. While it’s not a perfect presentation as far as 4K goes, it does offer a significant visual improvement upon the already excellent Blu-ray edition. Do check it out.  [Read on here…]
