Well... the day is finally here. Many of you are no doubt picking up or receiving in the mail your copies of Warner’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit in 4K Ultra HD. I hope you all enjoy them as much as I did!

There have been reports of Amazon and other retailers running out of stock this week, and that’s no doubt because Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is scrambling to manufacture enough copies to meet demand.

Keep in mind that there’s only one physical media replication plant in all of North America now and every studio is trying to get their big Q4 titles produced there at the moment.

Meanwhile, here at The Bits today, we’re working on some behind-the-scenes stuff—routine server maintenance and the like. And I’m personally taking a brief break before I dive back into disc reviewing.

However, Tim and Dennis are hard at work on more reviews, and I’ll have at least one more myself tomorrow, as well as more towards the end of the weekend and next weekend.

But I wanted to jump in here today to share something with all of you. You 4K Ultra HD fans, as well as fans of the Middle-earth films, will appreciate it: Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just posted a new video on YouTube featuring director Peter Jackson talking about the remastering process. It’s six minutes that I think you’ll find interesting and well worth a look. So here’s that...

Our thanks to the folks at Warner and WingNut Films for sharing it!

And that’s all for now. Back tomorrow.

Stay tuned...
