And here’s something exciting: For many months now (most recently here), we’ve been reporting on a number of forthcoming Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment 4K catalog titles that are expected to arrive in 2025, but we’ve just gotten confirmation from the studio’s Korean distributor that Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity (2013) is finally set for release on the format in May of next year. The specific street date is still TBA and subject to change, but we’re confident the title is actually coming this time. In fact, we’ve been tracking this title for a couple of years now here at The Bits. It’s actually been in the works for that long, but the key has been securing the director’s approval of the film’s new high dynamic range grading. We’re certainly looking forward to seeing how it looks on the format.
While we’re talking Warner Bros., we’ve reported previously that the studio is releasing Miloš Forman’s Amadeus: Theatrical Cut (1984) in 4K Ultra HD on 2/25. (And it must be noted that the Theatrical Cut was and is the director’s preferred version of the film; the so-called Director’s Cut was really a home video creation—it’s still available on Blu-ray if you want it.) Well, it’s finally available for pre-order on Amazon.com and here’s a look at the cover artwork (click on the image to visit the pre-order page for the title)...
Finally today, from all of us here at The Digital Bits, we want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
We hope that each of you has a very safe and happy celebration with your family and friends, or at least that you have the chance to enjoy a relaxing and well-deserved break from the hustle and bustle of workaday life. Eat some great food, watch some great movies, and always remember: There’s a lot of kind people out there, with plenty more good things happening in the world than bad every single day. And the world’s a better place with you in it.
Our love out to each and every one of you—we appreciate you! Thanks for reading The Bits and sticking with us year after year.
We’ll be off for the next few days here at the site to give the whole team a chance to recharge. But we might check in before then with a new disc review or two, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled. And we’ll be back on Monday with all the latest release news.
Cheers, friends. Peace out!
