Today’s post is a quick one, but we’ve got a few important updates for you...
First, we’ve confirmed with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment that their forthcoming Independence Day: 20th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray should include nearly all of the bonus features from previous releases with the exception of the interactive game that was present on the last Blu-ray release. We hope to have the full list soon, as well as an update on the release of UHD release of ID4K (probably day and date with BD and DVD, but we’re waiting for official confirmation of that). This great classic title is now available on disc from our friends at Twilight Time, so don’t miss it.
In announcement news today, Anchor Bay Entertainment and Dimension Films have set Regression for Blu-ray, DVD and digital release on 5/10, featuring Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson. [Read on here…]

Afternoon folks! We’re kicking off the new week with a pair of new Twilight Time Blu-ray reviews from our own Jim Hemphill. He’s taken a look at Hal Ashby’s comedy The Last Detail (1973) and George Roy Hill’s Hawaii (1966). Both are well worth your time, so do give them a look.
Before we get to the announcement news for the day, Amazon is having Deal of the Day sales on a number of Batman and Superman Blu-ray and DVD titles today, in honor of the release this week of Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice (the early reviews of which are pretty good apparently). You can click here for up to 77% off Batman DVD and BD titles (including the Classic TV Series, the Tim Burton movie collection, and the Christopher Nolan movie collection), and here for 80% off Superman DVD and BD titles (including the Man of Steel: Collector’s Edition and Smallville: The Complete Series). Act fast to take advantage. [Read on here…]

All right, we’ve got a couple things for you all today here at The Bits to close out the week...
First, we’ve learned that Panasonic’s forthcoming new Ultra HD Blu-ray player, the DMP-UB900, will feature Blu-ray 3D compatibility. That’s good news for those of you who are serious BD enthusiasts and have been waiting for this unit. It’s only available in Europe at the moment (for around £600, which is about $870) and we don’t have a US street date or SRP yet, but it is coming to our shores by mid-year. Meanwhile, click here to read What Hi-Fi?’s review of the European version of the player. [Read on here…]

Welcome to a new week here at The Bits! You may have noticed that we didn’t have a My Two Cents post on Friday and there was a very good reason for that, which I’ll good into in a moment. We did, however, post a pair of new disc reviews for you in case you missed them.
First, I offered my thoughts on Warner’s San Andreas in 4K UHD Blu-ray format. Also, Tim posted his thoughts on Arrow Video’s Society: Special Edition on regular Blu-ray Disc. And just today, our own Jim Hemphill has tuned in his two cents on the Coen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis, a magnificent film that I appreciate a little more every time I watch it, as delivered to Blu-ray by the fine folks at The Criterion Collection. All three titles are worth a look, so do check them out. [Read on here…]

Pick-Ups for the Week of March 07, 2016
Welcome to a new edition of Pick-Ups!
Thanks for joining me. This week I’m going to focus on our distribution friends from across the pond (having also recently crossed the pond, as well), Arrow Video. So consider this an Arrow Video Catch-Up week.
And by the way, before we get into it, I didn’t get a chance to go see The Witch since my last column (in which I said I would), but hopefully, I will at some point. Right now I have my sights set on the newly-released Zootopia, which looks like a fun and refreshing bit of Disney animation. Anyways, moving on. [Read on here…]

We’re kicking things off today here at The Bits with two more new disc reviews. Tim’s taken a look at Arrow Video’s Tenderness of the Wolves: Special Edition on regular Blu-ray Disc, and I’ve posted my thoughts on Fox’s Exodus: Gods and Kings in 4K Ultra HD format. I’ll have one more UHD review this week as well – a look at Warner’s San Andreas. So check back tomorrow morning for that. [Read on here…]

We’ve got a pair of new disc reviews for you to enjoy today here at the site, starting with Tim’s look at Arrow Video’s new 3-film American Horror Project: Volume 1 Blu-ray box set.
Also, I’ve just completed another 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray review: Sony’s Chappie, which is the first actual full 4K title I’ve seen so far on the format, as opposed to the 2K DI upconverts more common to the first wave of UHD titles. [Read on here…]
