Fox finally sets Heat: Definitive for BD, plus Despicable Me 4K w/Dolby Vision, Iron Giant BD deal, new columns & more
All right, we’ve got another quick one for you today, as I’m still working on reviews. My look at Warner’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 4K Ultra HD review will be up shortly and I’ll update this link when it’s posted (update: here it is). Meanwhile, we also have a new review from Tim Salmons, who looks at Scream Factory’s new Firestarter: Collector’s Edition on regular Blu-ray.
Also today, we have a couple of great new feature columns... Bud Elder has chimed in with a new View from the Cheap Seats and he’s pretty sure he’s figured out what’s wrong with movies these days. Do give it a look. Not to be outdone, our old friend Dr. Adam Jahnke has turned in new Jahnke’s Electric Theatre Special column today here at The Bits, in which he says something that’s badly needed saying for a while now. You’ll find that in Open Along Edge: Netflix’s DVD Problem. Enjoy! [Read on here…]

How’s about some 4K reviews and catalog Blu-ray news? Anyone? Anyone?
Well, folks... there’s not much in the way of news to report this afternoon, apart from the obvious o’course. But we do have a few odds and ends for you today. And we’re working on a bunch of new Blu-ray and 4K reviews, two of which I’ve got for you now.
I’ve posted reviews of Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games and Warner’s Pacific Rim, each in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. Both look great. Pacific Rim is a real HDR stunner, though The Hunger Games is the better value in terms of content and extras. But both are well worth a look if you’re a fan of the format. [Read on here…]

We’ve got two more Blu-ray reviews for you today: Tim’s thoughts on Criterion’s new The Beatles: A Hard Day’s Night as well as Magnolia’s Richard Pryor: Omit the Logic. Both are worth your time.
Also here at the site today, our own Russell Hammond has updated the Release Dates & Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray and DVD cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. It really helps us tremendously to keep The Bits going when you guys support us by shopping through our links. A small portion of the purchase price of literally anything you buy from Amazon in the same shopping session after you click through any of our links comes back to us as an affiliate fee and, in this era when studio advertising and physical media sales are down, and server costs are higher than ever, your support makes all the difference between us keeping the site going or not. So thank you for shopping through our links… and please continue to do so! [Read on here…]
