The big release news today is that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has finally officially announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of Todd Phillips’ Joker on 1/7/20. The Digital release will arrive earlier, on 12/17. Joker was finished with a native 4K digital intermediate, and the UHD version will include Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio. Special features on all versions will include 4 featurettes (Joker: Vision & Fury, Becoming Joker, Please Welcome… Joker!, and Joker: A Chronicle of Chaos). You can see the cover artwork above left and also below.
And we have one more big announcement for you this afternoon... Walt Disney Studio has just officially set Maleficent: Mistress of Evil for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 1/14/20, with the Digital release due on 12/31. This film was finished as a 2K digital intermediate, but it was shot at much higher resolution, so it should look pretty great. Audio will be Dolby Atmos on 4K and 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio on Blu-ray. Extras on the discs will include 2 extended scenes (The Queen Comforts Aurora and Philip and Aurora Dance), 4 featurettes (Origins of the Fey, Aurora’s Wedding, If You Had Wings, and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil VFX Reel), outtakes, and the You Can’t Stop The Girl music video by Bebe Rexha. The Digital version will include an addition featurette (Lickspittle) as an exclusive.
We’ll leave you with a look at the Blu-ray and 4K cover art for both titles, along with a couple more upcoming titles...
Back tomorrow. Stay tuned...
