Here at The Bits today, Tim Salmons has dropped his second Halloween Hangover review, and it’s none other than Paramount’s What We Do in the Shadows on Blu-ray – a great little mockumentary comedy and a bit of a sleeper hit from last year. The film is definitely recommended, so do check it out.
All right, in news today, Synapse Films has announced a trio of great and interesting catalog titles for Blu-ray release on 12/8, including Leni Reifenstahl’s newly remastered propaganda film Triumph of the Will, Curt McDowell’s Thundercrack: 40th Anniversary Collector’s Edition, and the complete 3-part 2003 documentary miniseries Stalingrad.
Here’s something interesting: Fox Japan is going to be releasing Glee: Season Six on Blu-ray... but only in Japan (street date is 12/2). Still, it’s Region A and include English DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio (with Japanese 5.1 and Japanese subtitles obviously). Extras are the same as the US DVD release. So if you want to import, you’ll soon have that option. That’s to the friend and industry source who passed that tip along!
Alchemy has set the horror film Charlie’s Farm for DVD only release on 11/3.
PBS Distribution will be releasing E.O Wilson: Of Ants and Men on DVD on 11/17.
Universal has set Roger Waters: The Wall for release on Blu-ray, DVD and digital on 12/1. The concert was shot during his recent 2010-13 world tour. The Blu-ray will be mastered from the original 4K master and mixed in Dolby Atmos. It also includes 95-minutes of bonus content, including a pair of guest appearances shot at the O2 Arena in London with David Gilmour.
And don’t forget that Anchor Bay is releasing The Anomaly on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/6.
By the way, one last bit of information: Ridley Scott has revealed that there’s a possible extended cut of The Martian or at least deleted scenes. Hopefully, we’ll see some of that deleted footage on the forthcoming Blu-ray. Our friend Frosty has all the details over on Collider.
Here’s some great new cover artwork for you to check out, including Kino and those Synapse titles...
Have a great weekend!
