We have details on the extras you can expect in Sony’s The Fifth Element and Léon: The Professional Supreme Cinema Blu-rays, due on 10/27. For the first time, The Fifth Element will include all the previous DVD featurettes on BD (including The Visual Element, The Digital Element, The Star Element, The Alien Element, The Fashion Element, The Diva, Imagining The Fifth Element, and The Elements of Style) in addition to its 4K remaster and Dolby Atmos audio. Meanwhile, Léon: The Professional will include both the theatrical and extended versions of the film (remastered in 4K and with Dolby Atmos audio) as well as 3 featurettes (Cast and Crew Look Back, Jean Reno: The Road to Léon, and Natalie Portman: Starting Young), and the film’s trailer. We’ll post Amazon links as soon as they’re available.
Meanwhile, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has just announced The Rocky Horror Picture Show: 40th Anniversary Celebration for release on Blu-ray, DVD and digital on 9/22. The Blu-ray will be available in an Ultimate Collector’s Edition box set, featuring limited edition packaging, exclusive collectible pink surgical gloves, fishnet stockings, and the film’s soundtrack. In terms of extras, it appears to be the same extensive collection of material that’s been released on Blu-ray and DVD previously.
Fox has also announced a new Edward Scissorhands: 25th Anniversary Edition coming to Blu-ray and digital on 10/13. The Blu-ray will be a Limited Edition featuring a new 4K restoration of the film, and packaging that includes “custom paper dolls, a heart shaped cookie cutter and a topiary air freshener that smells like fresh cut grass.”
In other news, Dark Sky Films has set Redeemer for Blu-ray release on 9/1.
Public Media Distribution has set Gameplay and Showrunners: The Art of Running a TV Show for DVD release on 9/8.
Paranormal Island is coming to DVD and digital on 9/1 from Cinedigm.
PBS will release JFK & LBJ: A Time for Greatness on DVD on 9/1, followed by Indian Summers on 10/13.
Lionsgate will release The Age of Adaline on Blu-ray and DVD on 9/8.
Alchemy has set Strangerland for Blu-ray and DVD release on 8/18.
Well Go USA is releasing The Timber on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/6.
CBS and Paramount have set Blue Bloods: The Fifth Season for DVD release on 9/8, followed by CSI: The Final Season, CSI: Cyber: The First Season, and NCIS: The Best of Abby on DVD on 9/15.
And Entertainment One has set Syfy’s Haven: Season Five, Volume One for Blu-ray and DVD release on 9/8 (SRP $49.98 and $39.98).
