All right, we’ve got a slow news day for you today, but we do have one great bit of news for you...

Mill Creek Entertainment has announced their October and November release slate and the highlight is that they’ve got The Shield: The Complete Series coming as a Blu-ray box set on 11/6 (SRP $229.98). The 18-disc set will include all 88 episodes remastered in HD from new 4K scans/restorations of the original 16mm film elements “preserving the intentional grit and raw texture that’s unique to this series.”

All of the previous extras will be included, among them deleted scenes, audio commentaries with the cast and crew, behind-the-scenes featurettes and more. The set will also include all-new features exclusive to this set, among them The Shield Reunion, The Shield: A Retrospective, Restoring The Shield, The Critical Response to The Shield, and The Shield Writers Room (a reunion from the ATX Festival Panel). You can see the cover artwork at the left there and also below. [Read on here...]

In addition, Mill Creek has America the Beautiful: National Parks Collection (Blu-ray) and Can’t Hardly Wait (Blu-ray) coming on 10/9, followed by Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis (Blu-ray and DVD) and Chillers: The Complete Series (DVD) on 10/30, and Golden History of Hollywood (DVD), Benji’s Very Own Christmas Story (Blu-ray and DVD), and And the Award Goes To (DVD) on 11/6.

AD Vision has set a Patlabor the Mobile Police Ultimate Collection for Blu-ray release on 11/6, containing “episodes 1-47 of the anime series directed by Naoyuki Yoshinaga, episodes 1-16 of Patlabor the Mobile Police: The New Files, episodes 1-7 of The Original OVA Series, and Movies 1-3.” The 15-disc set will sell for SRP $129.98.

Also today, Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout is now available for pre-order on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K on Amazon.com (click here for the 4K link) and our information is that the street date will be some time in November. Let me tell you... I went last night to an IMAX screening with friends, and it’s every bit as good Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation, maybe even better. I haven’t been on the edge of my seat like that in a long time. It delivers incredible stunts, all shot for real, many in large format, with Cruise as his own stuntman. It’s a great continuation of the story of Rogue Nation, and even features some nice call backs to the earlier films. It’s really a beautiful piece of action/spy filmmaking. See it in IMAX or Dolby Cinema as soon as possible and absolutely don’t miss it.

And in other news this afternoon, Disney and Fox shareholders have just approved Disney’s purchase of Fox, making this a done deal. There’s a whole long process that still has to work it’s way to completion, but Disney will be the proud owner of the Fox studio catalog. You can read more here.

We’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for The Shield, temp art for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, and more. Click on each to pre-order the title on Amazon.com if available (links will be added as they come online)...
