Now then... in announcement news today, Shout! and Scream Factory have revealed a very nice September Blu-ray slate and DVD slate, which is set to include Squadron 303: The Battle of Britain (Blu-ray and DVD), When Calls the Hear: Disputing Hearts (DVD), Mary Magdalene (Blu-ray and DVD), and The Wind Demons of the Prairie (Blu-ray and DVD) on 9/3, Scars of Dracula (Blu-ray), Circus of Horrors (Blu-ray), and Blood from the Mummy’s Tomb (Blu-ray) on 9/10, Straight on Till Morning (Blu-ray), Fright (Blu-ray), and Mike Nichols’ Biloxi Blues: Shout Select (Blu-ray) on 9/17, and John Carpenter’s Vampires (Blu-ray), The High Chaparral: The Final Season (DVD), Going My Way: 75th Anniversary Edition – Shout Select (Blu-ray), The Great Waldo Pepper: Shout Select (Blu-ray), and Fear No Evil (Blu-ray) on 9/24.
And in November from Shout, look for Snow Falling on Cedars: Shout Select (Blu-ray) on 11/5, and American Me: Shout Select (Blu-ray) on 11/19.
Also today, the official social media channels for Monty Python are starting to buzz about a big forthcoming announcement, which, we suspect, could be the long-anticipated reveal of a Monty Python’s Flying Circus: The Complete Series remastered box set on Blu-ray. As many of you know, 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the classic British comedy series. Watch for all the details here at The Bits (as well as here and here), likely sometime early next week.
In 4K news, we have a couple things that are exciting for you...
First, the first online retailer has posted a link to that much anticipated 007: The Daniel Craig 4K Collection box set we’ve been hinting at for months now. It will include Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and SPECTRE. Amazon.fr is now officially showing it for pre-order from Sony with a street date of 9/25. You can see it here.
Also today, our friends at Dark Horizons are reporting what we’ve been telling you here at The Bits for weeks now, which is that Marvel and Disney are officially planning to remaster and release ALL of the MCU catalog films in the coming months. Captain Marvel executive producer Victoria Alonso reportedly confirmed it during a press tour for that film. And indeed, our sources say that Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Iron Man 3 are all coming to 4K Ultra HD in August or September, along with Thor and Thor: The Dark World, timed around the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. That would leave only Guardians of the Galaxy, the original Ant-Man, and Doctor Strange not yet released on 4K and we expect those by early next year.
Speaking of which, one of our most reliable retail sources has just informed us to expect Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame to street on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 8/20. The same source is also telling us to expect Warner and Legendary’s Godzilla: King of Monsters to arrive on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K a week later on 8/27. We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits accordingly.
That’s all for now. Have a great weekend!
