Meanwhile, I’ve taken a look at a couple new Blu-ray 3D titles, including...

Disney and Lucasfilm’s recent Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on Blu-ray 3D, imported from the UK. It’s coded for Regions A, B, and C, so it should work on all North American players.

While I had the 3D glasses out, I also thought I’d check out the latest effort from Bob Furmanek, Flicker Alley, and the 3-D Film Archive... 3-D Rarities II! It includes another batch of rarely, seldom, or never-before-seen 3-D short subjects, along with the first Mexican feature film to be filmed in 3D, The Heart of Granada (1953 – aka El Corazón y la Espada), directed by Edward Dein and Carlos Véjar hijo and starring the great Cesar Romero. This one is a lot of fun.

Finally today, I’ve reviewed Shout! Factory’s latest IMAX title in 4K Ultra HD, Pascal Vuong’s D-Day: Normandy 1944. It’s a nice documentary presentation on the Allied invasion in World War II, narrated by Tom Brokaw and using large format digital photography and animation to tell its story—worth a look for history buffs.

And that’s all for today. However, we’re working on lots more new reviews here at The Bits for the coming days. I expect to have Paramount’s new Days of Thunder and War of the Worlds 4K Ultra HDs reviewed in the next day or two, so be sure to watch for them.

In the meantime, have a great Thursday!
