Our friends at Twilight Time have announced their May Blu-ray slate (due on 5/12 – pre-orders open on 4/29 at 1 PM Pacific on the Screen Archives Entertainment website) and we’ve got the specs for you this afternoon. Look for American Buffalo (1996 – isolated score track, audio commentary with film historians Julie Kirgo and Nick Redman, and the original theatrical trailer), Carla’s Song: Director’s Cut (1996 - isolated music & effects track, audio commentary with director Ken Loach and screenwriter Paul Laverty, deleted Scenes, and the original theatrical trailer), Hombre (1967 – isolated score track, audio commentary with film historians Lee Pfeiffer and Paul Scrabo, and the original theatrical trailer), A Man for All Seasons (1966 – isolated score track, audio commentary with film historians Julie Kirgo, Lem Dobbs and Nick Redman, The Life of Saint Thomas More featurette, and the original theatrical trailer), and Mississippi Burning (1988 – isolated score track, audio commentary with director Alan Parker, and original theatrical trailer).
Disney will release McFarland, USA on Blu-ray, DVD and digital on 6/2. Extras will include 2 featurettes, deleted and extended scenes, and a music video.
Kino Lorber has set John Flynn’s Defiance (1980) and Robert Parrish’s The Wonderful Country (1959) for Blu-ray release in September (street dates TBA).
Entertainment One has set Wild Horses for Blu-ray and DVD release on 7/21.
Cohen Media Group will release 3 Hearts on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/28.
And PBS Distribution will release Children of Giant on DVD on 6/23. The documentary is a look at the small town in Texas where the classic Hollywood film was shot, and how it affected the lives of the residents.
Those of you eagerly awaiting Discotek’s Lupin the 3rd: The Castle of Cagliostro on Blu-ray will be pleased to learn that if you pre-order it now from the Discotek website, the company is going to start shipping the discs during the first week of May. The Amazon and wide release street date is 6/23.
