Speaking of 4K, we’ve just confirmed with Paramount that their Gladiator 4K Ultra HD release, due on 5/15, will include both the theatrical and extended versions of the film in 4K, complete with DTS:X audio. The 4K disc will also include the existing introduction by Scott on the extended edition, and both audio existing audio commentaries (Scott and Russell Crowe on the extended edition and Scott, Pietro Scalia and John Mathieson on the theatrical cut). The included 2-disc Blu-ray will feature both versions as well, plus all the previous bonus features. Meanwhile, Braveheart (also due 5/15) will include the theatrical cut with commentary by Mel Gibson and Dolby Atmos audio, plus the 2-disc Blu-ray with all extras. Each of these 4K packages will be a 3-disc version. And as we’ve reported previously, both will feature Dolby Vision HDR. You can see the cover artwork below.
One more bit of 4K news: Shout! Factory’s Dream Big: Engineering Our World and National Parks Adventure are both coming to 4K UHD on 6/12 and you can now pre-order them on Amazon by clicking on the cover artwork below.
