The company has further announced that Hal Ashby’s Coming Home (1978) is coming to Blu-ray on 1/16.
And KLSC is re-issuing Norman Jewison’s The Russians are Coming, the Russians are Coming (1966) and Robert Wise’s Run Silent, Run Deep (1958) on Blu-ray on 1/16 as well, in new BD-50 editions with significantly higher video bit rates than their previous BD-25 editions.
Now here’s the big one (and you might recall that in yesterday’s post here at The Bits, I suggested that a new another Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection was probably coming): Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just officially announced that another Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection is coming! Due on 2/13, the Columbia Classics 4K Ultra HD Collection: Volume 4 box set will include Howard Hawks’ His Girl Friday (1940), Stanley Kramer’s Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1967), Robert Benton’s Kramer vs. Kramer (1979), John Carpenter’s Starman (1984), Nora Ephron’s Sleepless in Seattle (1993), and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Punch Drunk Love (2002)!
All will feature Dolby Vision HDR, and all but His Girl Friday will offer Dolby Atmos sound mixes (along with the original/previous mixes in lossless DTS-HD Master Audio format). Each film will include legacy special features, plus some will have new material as well, including:
- His Girl Friday (1940) – 2 new featurettes (Screwball Style: The Iconic Costumes of Robert Kalloch and Breaking the Speed Barrier: The Dialogue of His Girl Friday)
- Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) – Audio Commentary with Film Professor Jennine Lanouette and 5 Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scenes
- Starman (1984) – Never-Before-Seen Deleted Scenes and Behind-the-Scenes Time Lapses, plus an exclusive bonus disc with the complete 22-episode Starman TV series (1986-87) in HD on UHD disc for maximum space
- Sleepless in Seattle (1993) – 30th Anniversary Critic Commentary with Karen Han & David Sims and A Conversation on Sleepless in Seattle with Gary Foster and Meg Ryan

Before we go today, I also have to take a moment to acknowledge Tuesday’s 20th anniversary of director Peter Weir’s magnificent Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003).
