The studio has also set a 48 Hrs. 2-Movie Collection for release on 4K UHD that same day. The original 48 Hrs. is being released as a 40th Anniversary Edition. All of these will include the film on 4K, Blu-ray, and Digital. Each will include Dolby Vision HDR, along with the legacy Blu-ray special features. Also today, our friends at Kino Lorber Studio Classics have revealed the street dates for their forthcoming 4K Ultra HD releases of the Clint Eastwood films Escape from Alcatraz (1979) and High Plains Drifter (1973). Look for the former on 11/8, with the latter following on 11/22. And we have a street date for KLSC’s 4K UHD release of Mystery Men (1999) too—look for that on 11/22 as well. Cover art for the first two titles can be found below.
And 88 Films has set Stanley Tong’s Police Story III: Super Cop (1992) for release on 4K Ultra on 12/13.

For those of you who are fans of cinematographer Roger Deakins, the excellent Team Deakins podcast he does with his wife and collaborator James has just returned for its second season. The first two episodes feature special effects technician Richard Cheal (Star Wars, The Batman, SPECTRE), and art director Rod McLean (Blade Runner 2049, 1917, Zero Dark Thirty) respectively. Second Sight Films in the UK has posted an update on their forthcoming 4K Ultra HD release of George Romero’s Martin (1977). The title is currently in the final authoring stages and a pre-Christmas release date will be announced soon.
And finally today, we wanted to let you all know that Hulu is currently showing James Cameron’s True Lies (1994) in HD via streaming. And the good news is, this appears to be the “new” HD master that was originally intended for Blu-ray release several years ago. It doesn’t appear to be a proper 4K scan—which may be why Cameron delayed the release—but it’s definitely better than the HD presentation on the old D-VHS version (which I own). So for those of you who have been eager to see the film again in HD, there you go.
