Our own Michael Coate has just posted a new History, Legacy & Showmanship column here on The Bits, featuring a great look back at the Bond classic Thunderball on the film’s 50th anniversary! Thunderball is certainly one of our favorite films of the series around here, and to celebrate the occasion Michael has moderated a great roundtable discussion of film historians, including Jon Burlingame, Robert A. And I’ve just posted my two cents on Chris McQuarrie’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation on Blu-ray from Paramount, which is outstanding from start to finish. We’re starting the new week off with more Blu-ray reviews, as promised. First up is my detailed take on Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies – Extended Edition, which is set to street from Warner Home Video on 11/17. The Extended Edition of this film is the best of the trilogy, so it’s definitely worth a look if you’re a fan of these films. Also, our own Jim Hemphill has taken a look at Frank De Felitta’s Scissors (1991) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics.
