All right, we’ve got a few items for you guys today here at The Bits...

First up, I know some of you guys are big fans of the Fast and Furious franchise, so you might be interested in this: Amazon is now taking pre-orders on Universal’s Fast & Furious and Fast Five on 4K Ultra HD. Each will feature DTS-X object based audio. Street date is 6/11. I’ve included cover artwork at below (and you’ll find the Amazon pre-order links down there too.

I’ve also posted the artwork for Universal’s The Scorpion King, which streets on 4K on 6/18 and is also available for pre-order.

Now then, the big news today is that Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced a new Ghostbusters & Ghostbusters II Steelbook 4K Ultra HD release on 6/11 that will include a new special features disc with more than two hours of “long-requested and rare archival elements—including never-before-seen deleted scenes from the first film—along with returning interviews, effects breakdowns, multi-angle explorations and much more! Both films also feature brand new commentaries, featuring the filmmakers on Ghostbusters II and passionate fans with deep-cut insights on Ghostbusters.” You can see the cover artwork to the left. Welcome to a new week. We’re kicking things off today with a great new Blu-ray review – Tim’s taken a look at Warner’s new Godzilla in 1080p, directed by Gareth Edwards (previously known for his clever Monsters). All right, LOT of ground to cover today. Updates this week are going to be a little sporadic, as Comic-Con week brings with it an intense flurry of visitors, meetings and other very important business here at The Bits. BUT… rest assured we will catch you up on all the important developments soon enough.

First up here at the site today, Dr. Jahnke has turned in a new installment of his An Honor to Be Nominated, featuring a look back at a Comic-Con appropriate former Oscar nominee… Skippy (1931)! It’s well worth your time, so do check it out.

Also today, Russell Hammond has posted the weekly Release Dates & Artwork update and note that our very own Todd Doogan will chime in tomorrow with his weekly Doogan’s Queue.

The big news today is that Universal has set the Universal Classic Monsters: The Complete 30-Film Collection for DVD only release on 9/2 (SRP $199.98), The 21-disc set includes the previous Legacy Collection DVD sets of Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Wolf Man, The Invisible Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Phantom of the Opera, along with all the extras.
