Morning, folks. We’re going to be working on more reviews here at The Bits today, but we do have some interesting release news to report for you before we get started on those.

First, it appears that whatever was going on to delay the Amazon pre-orders for upcoming 4K titles from Warner seems to have been resolved. You can now pre-order Blade Runner: 2049 on 4K (and also Blu-ray – keep in mind the title hasn’t officially been announced, so there’s no street date yet and we don’t know if there will be the 3D and deluxe SKUs in the US) and also Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban – one of the four remaining Potter titles due on 11/7. We expect the others to appear soon and we’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List too. [Read on here…]

We’re starting the new week with a pair of great Blu-ray reviews, and some fine Blu-ray release news too...

First up, our own Tim Salmons has just posted his new Halloween Hangover review of Scream Factory’s long-awaited Army of Darkness: Collector’s Edition Blu-ray! The big announcement news today is that Criterion has just revealed their January Blu-ray and DVD release slate, which is set to include Kihachi Okamoto’s The Sword of Doom (Cat #280 – Blu-ray – SRP $39.95) on 1/6, Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant (Cat #740 – Blu-ray and DVD – SRP $39.95 and $29.95) on 1/13, Guy Maddin’s My Winnipeg (Cat #741 – Blu-ray and DVD – SRP $39.95 and $29.95) and Preston Sturges’ The Palm Beach Story (Cat #742 – Blu-ray and DVD – SRP $39.95 and $29.95) on 1/20, and Lucrecia Martel’s La ciénaga (Cat #743 – Blu-ray and DVD – SRP $39.95 and $29.95) on 1/27.
