In honor of Moore, we thought sharing this video clip was appropriate. It’s a great cover of the theme to The Mary Tyler Moore Show… Love Is All Around… by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. After all, let’s face it... Moore was an original badass. Enjoy…
Also, today marks the 50th anniversary of the fire that killed Apollo 1 astronauts Virgil “Gus” Grissom, Edward White, and Roger Chaffee. Here they are pictured during their training for the mission (Grissom is on the left, White in the middle, and Chaffee at right)…
It’s worth noting that Grissom was one of NASA’s original Mercury Seven astronauts, along with John Glenn, and would almost certainly have been the first man to walk on the Moon had he lived. You can read more about Gus, Ed, Roger, and Apollo 1 here via The Washington Post today. And if you get the chance tonight, look up at the Moon in their honor.
“If we die we want people to accept it. We are in a risky business, and we hope that if anything happens to us, it will not delay the program. The conquest of space is worth the risk of life.” – Gus Grissom
Back on Monday. Seen you then...
