Finally today, a batch of sad news. We’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the passing (over the last few days) of actress Marcia Wallace (best known for her role on TV’s The Bob Newhart Show and also for providing the voice of The Simpsons’ Mrs. Krabappel), stuntman and filmmaker Hal Needham (director of Smokey and the Bandit and The Cannonball Run among others) and visionary rock and roll musician Lou Reed (who started with The Velvet Underground and went on to have a prolific and highly influential solo career). Click on their names for more on each. All will surely be missed.
