F9: The Fast Saga, I Dream of Jeannie, Mortal Kombat Legends, Mare of Easttown & more, plus new Blu-ray & 4K reviews

All right, we’ve got a bunch of new disc reviews for you to enjoy today, as well as a round-up of the latest release news. Let’s start with the reviews first...

Tim has posted his in-depth look at Severin Films’ The Eurocrypt of Christopher Lee Collection, an 8-disc Blu-ray box set that includes Castle of the Living Dead, Challenge the Devil, Crypt of the Vampire, Sherlock Holmes and the Deadly Necklace, The Torture Chamber of Dr. Sadism, and the horror TV program Theatre Macabre.

Meanwhile, Dennis has taken a look at Wesley Ruggles’ The Bride Comes Home (1935) on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics. He’s also reviewed Criterion’s new Blu-ray release of Samuel Fuller’s Pickup on South Street (1953).

And Stephen has shared his thoughts on George Lautner’s The Road to Salina on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics, as well as Universal’s 4K Ultra HD release of Phil Alden Robinson’s Field of Dreams.

Here’s some interesting news today for you 4K and Fast and Furious fans: Zavvi is now taking pre-orders for Universal’s Fast & Furious 9: The Fast Saga on 4K Ultra HD ($34.99 – click here). The UK street date is listed as 11 October, which means the Blu-ray, DVD & 4K UHD release date should be 10/12 here in the States. Note that there will also be a Fast & Furious 1-9 Film Collection in 4K Ultra HD that same day (SRP $153.99 – click here).

In announcement news today, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has confirmed the 8/31 release of Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms on Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, and Digital. The 4K release will feature HDR10 high dynamic range. Extras will include audio commentary by producer Rick Morales and screenwriter Jeremy Adams and 3 featurettes (The God and the Dragon: Battling for Earthrealm, Voices of Kombat, and Kombat Gags: Gag Reel).

Warner has also set Young Sheldon: The Complete Fourth Season for DVD only release on 9/7.

And Warner and HBO will release Mare of Easttown: An HBO Original Limited Series on DVD only on 9/14. Extras will include 3 featurettes (Mare of Easttown: A Closer Look, Welcome to Easttown, and Making Mare of Easttown).

In other release news, Lionsgate has set Occupation: Rainfall for on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/10.

Mill Creek Entertainment has announced their August slate, which is set to include I Dream of Jeannie: The Complete Series on Blu-ray and DVD (SRP $85.99 and $44.98) on 8/3, followed by Rad on Blu-ray and DVD (SRP $19.99 and $14.99), For Richer or Poorer on Blu-ray only (SRP $19.99), Gridman – The Hyper Agent: The Complete Series on Blu-ray (SRP $40.99), and a Blu-ray double feature of The Watcher and Skeleton Key (SRR $19.99) all on 8/17.

Kino Lorber and Dedza Films have set Who Will Start Another Fire for DVD and Digital release on 8/10. This is an anthology of short films by emerging filmmakers. Included are Like Flying, Family Tree, Troublemaker, Polygraph, The Lights Are On No One’s Home, By Way of Canarise, The Rose of Manila, Slip, and Not Black Enough.

The Cohen Film Collection will release The Gang and Three Men to Kill: Two Newly Restored Films by Jacques Deray on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/31.

Film Movement will release Woman Composers on DVD and Digital on 7/20.

Vinegar Syndrome is releasing a Golden Arm: Collector’s Edition on Blu-ray today (7/1).

RLJE Films will release Natasha Kermani’s Lucky on DVD and Digital on 8/3. They also have Seance coming on Blu-ray and DVD the same day for Shudder.

Well Go USA has set Little Q and Midnight Diner for release on Blu-ray on 8/17.

Corinth Films has set the 1981 Orson Welles-narrated documentary The New Deal for Artists for DVD and Digital release on 7/27.

And MPI Media Group will release Code 3: L.A. Sheriff’s Case Files on DVD only on 7/20.

For UK readers, Eureka has set Jan Philipp Weyl’s Running Against the Wind for release on Blu-ray on 9 August.

Also, Paramount would like you to know that Paul Feig’s Freaks and Geeks is now available for purchase on various Digital platforms for those who may be interested.
