Spielberg’s The Sugarland Express is coming to 4K, as are Friedkin’s Bug & The Hunted, Twohy’s Below, Herzog’s Aguirre, Shyamalan’s The Visit & more!
All right, here are today’s new disc reviews...
Dennis has taken a look at Joel Schumacher’s 8MM (1999) on Blu-ray from Imprint Films.
Stuart has offered his take on Roberto Gavaldón’s Untouched (1954) on Blu-ray on Powerhouse Films’ Indicator label.
Tim has taken a look at Marcus Nispel’s remake of Friday the 13th (2009) in 4K Ultra HD from Arrow Video. He’s also turned in a review of Lucio Fulci’s Lizard in a Woman’s Skin (1971) on Blu-ray from Umbrella Entertainment.
And last, but certainly not least, Stephen has taken a deep dive into Toho’s Godzilla store-exclusive version of Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus One (2023) in 4K Ultra HD!
Also here at The Bits today, we have a brand new update of our Release Dates & Artwork section, which is a convenient way to see all of the new Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD titles that street each week. You can see the cover art, and sort by date and format. And you can click on each of the titles to pre-order them on Amazon.
On that note, I wanted to take a moment to share a challenge we’ve been having of late, which is that our Amazon Affiliate revenue has been declining. For a long time now—for over a decade—our Affiliate revenue has been a big part of helping us to keep The Digital Bits going—to help us cover our server and operating costs. It’s how we’ve been able to keep The Bits free for everyone to read for over 27 years now. In recent months, however, that revenue has begun to decline. We understand that Amazon may not always be the cheapest option these days. So for those of you who still support The Bits by shopping with them through links (in the daily news column, in our disc reviews, in the 4K Ultra HD Release List, and in the Release Dates & Artwork section), we really appreciate it very much! Disney sets Pixar’s Inside Out 2 for BD & 4K, plus Criterion’s CC40 box, Paramount’s Transformers & Beverly Hills Cop collections & a new Flights of Fantasy film screening in LA
The big news today is that Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has just announced the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 (2024) on 9/10. The Digital release is expected on 8/20.
Extras will include a pair of behind-the-scenes featurettes (including New Emotions and Unlocking the Vault) along with 5 deleted scenes (among them Cold Open, Broken Joy, Pool Party, Puberty Prank, and Shame Spiral).
The 4K will be released as a Limited Edition 4K + Blu-ray Steelbook. There will also be Blu-ray + DVD package, and a standalone DVD. An Inside Out 2-Movie Collection will also be available on Digital.
Audio on the 4K disc will be Dolby Atmos, with 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio included on the Blu-ray. We presume the HDR will be HDR10 only. The 4K disc is confirmed to be limited to 66 GB. You can see the cover artwork at left and also below the break. [Read on here...]

Universal bows Jaws 3 & Revenge in 4K, plus new KLSC titles, Imprint’s August slate, Blazing Saddles in Ultra HD, Rhino’s Atmos BD-As & The Police: Synchronicity Super Deluxe
As promised, we’re back today with an early update here at The Bits, featuring more announcement news and disc reviews. Let’s get to the latter first...
Stephen has taken a look at our friend Stephen Chiodo’s Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988) in 4K Ultra HD from Scream Factory, as well as Kinji Fukasaku’s Yakuza Graveyard (1976) on Blu-ray from Toei via Radiance Films.
Dennis has offered his thoughts on Fritz Lang’s Secret Beyond the Door (1947) and Edgar G. Ulmer’s Bluebeard (1944) both new on Blu-ray from Kino Lorber Studio Classics, as well as Karyn Kusama’s Girlfight (2000) on Blu-ray from Criterion.
And Tim has shared a review of Hanna-Barbera’s animated Yogi and the Invasion of the Space Bears (1988) on Blu-ray from our friends at the Warner Archive Collection.
Now then, the news... based on early word from retail sources, Universal is getting ready to release Joe Alves’ Jaws 3 (1983) and Joseph Sargent’s Jaws: The Revenge (1987) in 4K Ultra HD on 7/23. Also expected that same day is a new Jaws: 3-Movie Collection 4K set that also includes Jeannot Szwarc’s Jaws 2 (1978) which is already available on the format. Look for HDR10 high dynamic range with sound in Dolby Atmos format. Sadly, Jaws 3 will not be included in Blu-ray 3D format. Note that Jaws 3 and Jaws: The Revenge will also be available in 4K Steelbook packaging. You can see the cover artwork for the box set at left and that plus the regular 4K SKUs below the break.
