Here at the site today, we’ve posted a trio of new Blu-ray reviews. We have Tim’s take on Fede Álvarez’s Evil Dead (2013), available in both theatrical and unrated editions on a new Blu-ray from Sony, plus David’s look at Detective Bureau 2-3: Go to Hell Bastards! on Blu-ray from Arrow Films, and Dennis’ look at a Blu-ray release from Fox earlier this year... Simon Curtis’s Goodbye Christopher Robin.
Here’s a big of great news that broke over the weekend: The Warner Archive Collection has just officially set The Thing From Another World (1951) for release on Blu-ray! Look for it to street on 11/20 and you can pre-order it soon here. The cover artwork can be seen below.
Also newly revealed by The Warner Archive Collection for pre-order on Blu-ray the same day are Longmire: The Complete Sixth and Final Season and a Batman Mask of the Phantasm/Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero Double Feature Blu-ray.
And here’s a surprise, but also a bit frustrating: Disney is releasing a massive 55-disc Disney Classics: Complete Movie Collection – 1937-2018. It include 55 films from Snow White to Moana, nearly all on all-region Blu-ray except for Saludos Amigos (1943), The Three Caballeros (1945), Make Mine Music (1946), Melody Time (1948), and The Black Cauldron (1985), which are DVD only. The package also includes an 80-page book and an empty space to add Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018) when it’s released early next year. It streets on 12/3 for £249.99 (or about $324 US dollars). You can see it below and click here or on the picture to pre-order it from Amazon.co.uk. Note that no US release appears to be planned...
Finally today, the Universal Classic Monsters 30-Film Collection on Blu-ray is finally available again on Amazon.com and it’s definitely the good/fixed version. You can tell because the packaging has a new UPC sticker over the original UPC. Best of all, Amazon has a Deal of the Day on the set for just $69, which is 53% off. Again, that’s today only. We’ve confirmed that the Revenge of the Creature 3D has indeed been fixed, but there are reports that the 2D version is still a little soft. In any case, you can get the set here. We expect the Creature from the Black Lagoon BD set to be available on Amazon again soon as well, and fixed discs should be shipping soon to those of you who’ve requested them.
We’ll leave you with a look at the Blu-ray and 4K cover artwork for some of the titles mentioned above. Click on the images to pre-order the titles on Amazon.com if available (and know that doing so helps to support our work here at The Bits which we greatly appreciate)...
Stay tuned...
