We’re starting the new week with a trio of disc reviews...

First up, I’ve posted my look at Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey (2022), which streets in long-awaited 4K Ultra HD on 10/3 from 20th Century Studios and Buena Vista Home Entertainment. And I’m pleased to say that the disc does not disappoint in terms of A/V quality.

Also today, Stuart has offered his thoughts on Compton Bennett and Andrew Marton’s King Solomon’s Mines (1950), as recently released on Blu-ray by The Warner Archive Collection.

And Tim has turned in his take on Ryan Meade’s Tom Sullivan documentary Invaluable: The True Story of an Epic Artist (2014) on Blu-ray from Synapse Films.

In terms of announcement news today, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just announced a new Resident Evil: 6-Movie Collection 4K Ultra HD in Steelbook packaging. That’s due on 11/21. The set includes all 6 films in both Blu-ray and 4K, and all of the 4Ks will feature Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio, plus the previous 5.1 mixes. You can see the cover artwork at left. Meanwhile, Lionsgate has set Jean-Luc Godard’s Contempt (1963) (aka Le Mepris) for 4K Ultra HD release on 10/10 in honor of the film’s 60th anniversary. The disc will include HDR-10 high dynamic range, with French and English-dubbed audio in 2.0 mono DTS-HD Master Audio format.

By the way, we’re waiting to hear back from CBS and Paramount as to whether they’re going to have a replacement program for those who want to get the alternate VFX shot from the final episode of Star Trek: Picard – The Final Season on Blu-ray. As soon as we know, we’ll let you know.

Also, while we’re talking CBS, it looks like CBS Home Video is going to be releasing The Odd Couple: The Complete Series on MOD Blu-ray on 12/5. You can see the cover artwork below. There’s an Amazon listing but it’s not yet up for pre-order.

And Kino Lorber Studio Classics’ Columbo: The 1970s (Seasons 1-7) Blu-ray box set and The Monster Squad 4K UHD are both now available for pre-order on Amazon as well (see the cover art below).

Here’s a look at that cover art, with Amazon links if available...

Have a great weekend, everyone!
