I’m busy working on Blu-ray reviews here at The Bits today, so today’s update is going to be quick. That said, we’ve got a couple cool things for you, plus some interesting release news.

First, our very own Michael Coate has turned in yet another great History, Legacy & Showmanship column today, featuring a look back at TV’s classic Get Smart in celebration of the show’s 50th anniversary! The column offers a great roundtable interview with historians Carl Birkmeyer, Lee Pfeiffer, Paul Scrabo, and Nate Sears. We hope you enjoy it!  [Read on here…]

Also today, I’ve turned in a new Region B Blu-ray Disc review featuring Network’s long-awaited Space: 1999 – Series Two. The set streets in the UK next week (on 9/28) and it’s pretty great (note that we have word a US release is probable in 2016).

In release news today, Warner Home Video has set Reign: The Complete Second Season for DVD only release on 10/6.

Lionsgate will release Mississippi Grind on Blu-ray and DVD on 12/1, starring Ryan Reynolds and Ben Mendelsohn. The studio also has Baseball Legends coming on DVD only on 10/13.

Meanwhile, PBS Distribution will release The First Silent Night: The Christmas Carol That United the World on DVD on 11/3.

Finally, our very own Tim Salmons wanted to chime in here this afternoon with a word for you about something fun that he’s working on for next month…

“We all miss Dr. Jahnke here at The Bits, especially his annual Oktoberfest reviews during the Halloween season. So in that same spirit, we’re going to carry on the tradition, but mix it up a bit. I’ll be spending the month reviewing not just the newest horror titles currently hitting the market, but also some others that we haven’t covered here previously and that you might have overlooked, all well worth your time and hard-earned cash, so do check them out. We hope you’ll join us all month long for it. Hopefully, I’ll still be standing afterwards… having a Halloween Hangover.”

Tim Salmons' Halloween Hangover!

Should be a lot of fun, so stay tuned for that.

All right, that’s all for now. Back tomorrow with more. Peace out!
