We’d also like to take a moment today to acknowledge the passing of Japanese stuntman and actor Haruo Nakajima, who was the first actor to play Godzilla and did so in every film in the series up until Godzilla vs. Gigan in 1972. He was 88. Haruo-san also worked with director Akira Kurosawa on Stray Dogs, Seven Samurai, and The Hidden Fortress. A worthy giant monster among mere mortals, and he’ll be missed.
