The big catalog news today is that Warner Home Video has announced 6-disc The Exorcist: The Complete Anthology Blu-ray box set for release on 9/23 (SRP $35.99), set to include The Exorcist (theatrical version), The Exorcist: Extended Director’s Cut and, for the first time on Blu-ray, Exorcist II: The Heretic, The Exorcist III, Exorcist: The Beginning, and Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist. Exorcist II: The Heretic, The Exorcist III, and Exorcist: The Beginning will also be available separately as BD singles for just $16.99 each.
Warner has also announced that they’re releasing independent filmmaker Turner Clay’s Disaster L.A.: The Last Zombie Apocalypse Begins Here on Blu-ray, DVD and digital on 9/23.
20th Century Fox has set Fox Searchlight’s Belle for release on Blu-ray on 8/26.
Magnet and Magnolia have announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of The Ong Bak Trilogy on 7/29 (SRP $29.98 and $26.98).
Shout! Factory has announced the 9/9 DVD release of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella: 50th Anniversary Edition, starring Lesley Ann Warren, Stuart Damon, Walter Pidgeon, Ginger Rogers, and Celeste Holm.
Anchor Bay and RADiUS-TWC will release Errol Morris’ The Unknown Known documentary on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/2.
Entertainment One has set Watermark on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/8.
XLrator and Macabre are releasing the horror/thriller The Human Race on DVD only on 7/22.
Cinereach is releasing Tom Gilroy’s The Cold Lands on DVD on 8/12.
And Image and RLJ Entertainment have set All Cheerleaders Die for Blu-ray and DVD release on 7/22.
Finally today, we need to take a moment to acknowledge the passing yesterday of the great stage actor and film character actor Eli Wallach. Among his ironic roles: Calvera in John Sturges’ The Magnificent Seven, Tuco in Sergio Leone’s The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, and Don Altobello in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather: Part III.
