The fun starts with Stephen Hopkins’s The Ghost and the Darkness (1996) on Blu-ray on 5/10. Brian De Palma’s Femme Fatale (2002) follows on Blu-ray on 5/17, as does their long-awaited US release of John Carpenter’s Escape from New York: Collector’s Edition (1981) in 4K Ultra HD. Then on 5/24, look for Roger Nygard’s Trekkies: 25th Anniversary Edition (1997) on Blu-ray, along with Bernard Rose’s Candyman: Collector’s Edition (1992) and Tobe Hooper’s Lifeforce: Collector’s Edition (1985) in 4K Ultra HD!
We don’t yet have any details on the extras and A/V specs, but we’ll post them all here when Shout! makes their official announcements (probably later today or tomorrow).
By the way, we’ve also learned from retail sources that the Shout! Factory releases of The Message (1976) and Lion of the Desert (1981) in 4K Ultra HD are moving to July from the late March time frame originally rumored (the new tentative street date is 7/19) so adjust your plans accordingly.
Naturally, we’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits this morning with all of these details.
In the meantime, all six of the titles we’ve just mentioned are now available for pre-order, so here’s a look at the cover artwork with the Amazon.com links (just click on each one to visit the respective pre-order page)...
Back with more later. Stay tuned!
