Also now officially coming to 4K UHD from Warner and New Line on 3/1 are San Andreas, The LEGO Movie, and Pan. Again, you can see the cover art for all below.
In other news, here’s something exciting: The BBC has revealed that it’s currently in production on Planet Earth II, a sequel to the critically-acclaimed 2006 high-def documentary series Planet Earth. Sir David Attenborough is returning to narrate and what’s great about all this is that it’s been shot in 4K Ultra HD resolution, presumably for eventual 4K broadcast and release on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray (as well as regular digital HD and Blu-ray). The network hasn’t yet revealed when the 6-episode series will air, but they’ve apparently been using drones and other methods to capture wildlife footage otherwise unattainable. If they’ve managed to capture images with some form of HDR, the result could be truly extraordinary. You can read more here at Variety.
Meanwhile, Universal has set a Fast & Furious 7-Movie Collection for Blu-ray and DVD release on 5/10. They also have The Forest coming to Blu-ray and DVD on 4/12. And the studio has also set Xena: Warrior Princess – Season Six and Xena: Warrior Princess – The Complete Series for DVD only release on 5/17.
IndiePix Films has set The Winter for DVD release on 3/29. It’s apparently a fantastical drama in the vein of Pan’s Labyrinth.
MHz Networks has set the Norwegian TV releases Mammon: Season 1 and The Heavy Water War for DVD only release on 3/8.
And finally, Scream Factory has set Sssssss (1973) for Blu-ray release on 4/26. The disc will include 2 featurettes (My Reptilian Past – an interview with actor Dirk Benedict, and The Herpetologist’s Daughter – an interview with Heather Menzies-Urich), a photo gallery, radio spots, and theatrical trailers.
Here’s a look at those new Warner 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray titles, along with Sssssss and The Forest on regular Blu-ray (click on the covers to pre-order them on Amazon.com)...
Stay tuned...
