We’re starting things off today with Tim’s review of Lewis Teague’s Alligator (1980) in 4K Ultra HD from Scream Factory. It sounds like this is not only the best the film has ever looked and sounded, but it’s also one of Shout! and Scream’s best 4K releases to date. So do give it a look if you might be interested.

We’ve also just updated our Release Dates and Artwork section with all the latest Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD cover artwork and Amazon.com pre-order links. Remember, any time you order literally anything from Amazon after clicking to them from one of our links, you’re helping to support our work here at The Bits and we really do appreciate it.

I also wanted to address one other thing here on the site today: Some of you may have noticed that there were “roadblock” ads appearing on The Bits over the last few months. Ads that appeared when you clicked from the home page to other content—ads that you had to click away to continue reading. Rest assured, we’ve killed those and they will not be returning. I found them just as annoying as many of you, and even though they brought in good ad revenue for the site, I refuse to put money over the quality of the experience here. So thanks for your patience while we worked to remove them.

Now then, we’ve also updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at the site today, to add the newly-released Madman (1981) and Dracula Sucks (1978) in UHD from our friends at Vinegar Syndrome. Both are now available directly from their website here.

In announcement news today, The Warner Archive Collection has just revealed a pair of great Kevin Costner catalog Blu-ray titles that are coming on 4/12—Fandango (1985) and American Flyers (1985). Each will offer new 2022 HD masters and they’ll be released on BD50 discs to give the picture quality plenty of room to breathe.

Also, Paramount has announced the 3/15 release of Shooter in a new 4K Limited Edition Steelbook, released in honor of the film’s 15th anniversary. You can see the cover artwork below.

The MVD Rewind Collection has just revealed its next two titles, including Vampire’s Kiss (1988) and Monday Morning (1990), which are coming on Blu-ray on 6/21.

Mill Creek Entertainment has changed the street date for Superior 8 Ultra Brothers and Ultraseven X: The Complete Series on Blu-ray to 4/5. Adjust your plans accordingly.

Blood Sweat & Chrome (Book)Finally today, I wanted to direct your attention to a new book that’s just come out: Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road by Kyle Buchanan.

Buchanan is a pop-culture reporter for The New York Times and what he’s done is to conduct and compile hundreds of exclusive interviews with the cast and crew to create an in-depth oral history on the making of the film.

The book has been getting pretty great reviews. You can see the cover artwork on the right there (click on the image to visit the Amazon pre-order page). I’ve ordered a copy myself, and I thought that some of you might also be interested. So shiny and chrome!

All right, we’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for a few of the titles mentioned above and more.

The Amazon.com pre-order links for most of them are now live and the others will be added as they appear...

American Flyers (Blu-ray Disc) Fandango (Blu-ray Disc) Vampire's Kiss (Blu-ray Disc)

Shooter (Steelbook 4K Ultra HD) The Godfather Trilogy (4K Ultra HD) Monday Morning (Blu-ray Disc)

Stay tuned...
