Kino Lorber has also announced that it’s working on a TBA Blu-ray and DVD release of What Ever Happened to Aunt Alice? from a new 4K restoration.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release the newly-animated Wacky Races: Start Your Engines – Season One, Volume One on DVD only on 4/24, featuring 10 new episodes on one disc.
Well Go USA has just announced a new Blu-ray edition of Takashi Miike’s Ichi the Killer on 3/20, featuring the film remastered from a 4K scan (supervised by the director), as well as audio commentary by Miike and manga artist/writer Hideo Yamamoto, and a still gallery.
And Powerhouse Films and Indicator are releasing the Hammer, Volume Two: Criminal Intent Blu-ray box set on 2/23, including The Snorkel, The Full Treatment, Never Take Sweets from a Stranger, and Cash on Demand.
We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List to include new Amazon pre-order links for Paramount’s Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, both of which are set to street on 2/27.
Many Justice League fans have asked us if Warner has plans to release a so-called “Zack Snyder Director’s Cut” of the film on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K at any point. All sign and sources point to no right now. There is technically no such cut of the film in existance, aside from an early rough cut of the film, but nothing that’s actually finished and completed. Nor is there any word that Snyder himself has plans or even the desire to create one. So I wouldn’t hold my breath. The Walmart-exclusive version of the film on Blu-ray will reportedly contain one deleted scene. That’s likely to be all you get unless the BD/4K release sells so phenominally well that the studio decides to revisit it in the future. But given the amount of complaints we’re hearing, I wouldn’t count on that either. Enough said.
Finally, we’re expecting Disney and Lucasfilm to announce the Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi sometime in the next week or so, so stay tuned for official details on that.
All right, we’ll leave you with a look at some new Blu-ray and 4K cover artwork (click on the images to pre-order them on Amazon, if available)...
With that, we wish you all a great weekend. See you back here on Monday!
