In terms of announcement news, Visual Entertainment is releasing Stargate Universe: The Complete Series on Blu-ray Disc on 1/15. This includes all 40 episodes, plus over 2 hours of extras. This, by the way, follows in the wake of the company’s recent release of Stargate SG-1: The Complete Series on Blu-ray. The latter features the early seasons upscaled, while the later seasons were native HD. We believe Stargate Universe was produced in HD, so it should be of fairly good quality. [Read on here...]

Lionsgate has set Love, Weddings & Other Disasters for Blu-ray and DVD release on 2/2. Extras will include audio commentary with director Dennis Dugan and the A Celebration: Making Love, Weddings, and Other Disasters featurette. The press release also notes “descriptive audio commentary for the blind.”

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has made its planned March slate official, which is set to include Caught in the Draft (1941 – Blu-ray), Nothing But the Truth (1941 – Blu-ray), and My Favorite Blonde (1942 – Blu-ray) on 3/2, Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia: Special Edition (1974 – Blu-ray), The Choirboys (1977- Blu-ray), and The Don is Dead (1973 – Blu-ray) on 3/9, Runaway Train: Special Edition (1985 – Blu-ray), Taffin (1988 – Blu-ray), Positive I.D. (1986 – Blu-ray), The Last Remake of Beau Geste (1977 – Blu-ray), and In God We Trust (1980 – Blu-ray) on 3/16, Doc (1971 – Blu-ray and DVD), Shoot Out (1971 – Blu-ray), Showdown (1973 – Blu-ray), and Crossed Swords aka The Prince and the Pauper: Special Edition (1977 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 3/23, and Pain in the Ass aka L’Emmerdeur (1973 – Blu-ray and DVD), Isn’t She Great (2000 – Blu-ray), Lust, Caution: Special Edition (2007 – Blu-ray), Rosebud (1975 (Blu-ray and DVD), and Stiletto (1969 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 3/30.

Kino Classics is also releasing Little Fugitive: The Collected Films of Morris Engel & Ruth Orkin on Blu-ray on 3/9.

The BBC will release Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks on Blu-ray and DVD on 3/2.

Mill Creek Entertainment is releasing a double feature of My Girl and My Girl 2 on Blu-ray on 3/9.

GKids is releasing the anime On-Gaku: Our Sound on Blu-ray on 3/9 as well.

Media Blasters has set a Hakaider: Hyper Destroyer Edition on Blu-ray on 2/23.

Image Entertainment has set Robert Kirkman’s Secret History of Comics for Blu-ray release on 2/23.

And for you UK readers, Eureka! has set The Lucky Stars: 3-Film Collection for release on Blu-ray on March 22, featuring Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao. The set will include Winners and Sinners (1983), My Lucky Stars (1985), and Twinkle, Twinkle, Lucky Stars (1985).

Also, Universal has set Greenland for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 2/9. There’s no indication yet of a 4K Ultra HD release, but we would expect one of those eventually (there are some retail indications of a March date for 4K).

Speaking of 4K, we have sufficient word from our studio and industry sources to add a number of new or re-confirmed titles to our 4K Ultra HD Release List as coming in 2021, including Zack Snyder’s Justice League (TBA March), Wonder Woman 1984 (TBA April), A Clockwork Orange, Gravity, The Shawshank Redemption, Space Jam: 25th Anniversary, and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory: 50th Anniversary (all TBA 2021) from Warner, Soul (TBA April) from Disney and Pixar, News of the World and Greenland (TBA February or March) from Universal, and Monster Hunter, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV (both due 3/30), Snatch, Last Action Hero (both TBA May), Looper, The Guns of Navarone, and Drive (TBA 2021). Do keep in mind that all of these dates are to be considered unofficial and subject to change.

That’s all for the moment. Stay tuned!
