We hope you all had a nice holiday/WonderCon weekend... or just a weekend for the rest of you.

We’ve got a couple of new Blu-ray Disc reviews for you today. Our own Jim Hemphill has offered up his thoughts on Richard Brooks’ 1969 drama The Happy Ending, which is now available from Twilight Time. And, in case you missed it when I first posted it on Friday evening, I’ve completed my in-depth look at Disney and Lucasfilm’s forthcoming Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The film looks fantastic and, let me tell you, Laurent Bouzereau’s new Secrets of The Force Awakens behind-the-scenes documentary is terrific. The Happy Ending is now available, while The Force Awakens arrives in stores here in the States next Tuesday. [Read on here…]

All right, folks... it looks like we have more Internet-leaked Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-ray news for you this morning and the pace of the leaks is such that, again, we would expect the official announcement anytime now.

First, an image has leaked from a retail display in the UK suggesting that the official street date there for the DVD and Blu-ray is 4/18, which is a Monday.  [Read on here…]

Morning, folks! Well, looks like Walmart may have jumped the gun on leaking the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-ray cover artwork. Here’s what it looked like before very quickly being disappeared. It’s BB-8... because of course it is. You can see it on the left and below there. [Editor’s Note: It’s since been reposted on Walmart.com, which suggests the official announcement is imminent.]

Interestingly, it could be that there will be several different iterations of the cover art featuring the different characters from the film. So this could just be one of the covers. We’ll have to wait and see.  [Read on here…]

This is just a very quick early post – we’ll be back later this morning with our usual news update.

But we do have a bit of Star Wars related Blu-ray news that we thought was certainly worth mentioning right away. [Read on here…]

Pick-Ups for the Week of February 1, 2016

Welcome back for a new edition of Pick-Ups!

Thank you for joining me. This week I’m going to tackle a few Blu-ray titles from 2015 that we’ve missed here at the site... and don’t worry, not all of it will be horror. I’ve actually got some good movies that were released last year for you to check out. I thought I’d also let you know that I’m working on a column that’s Lord of the Rings related. I’m not sure when I’ll have that up for you, but hopefully sometime soon.  [Read on here...]

I just wanted to check in with you all briefly this evening for a rare Sunday update to bring you a bit of Star Wars: The Force Awakens news.

Amazon.com today very briefly listed the street date for Disney's Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-ray as 4/5, then pulled the date down again (SRP $39.99 but Amazon discounts it to $19.99). However, Amazon Canada also added the same date and left it up.  [Read on here…]

Fantasia went so far beyond the standards of the day that it was well and truly ‘ahead of its time,’ and ‘one of a kind.’” — Disney Historian Jeff Kurtti

The Digital Bits is pleased to present this retrospective commemorating the diamond anniversary of the release of Fantasia, Walt Disney’s innovative and acclaimed third feature-length animated production (after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Pinocchio) featuring Leopold Stokowski conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra over the memorable fusion of image and music.  [Read on here...]
