All right, we have a quick post for you this morning with breaking release news...

First, Disney has just officially announced not only the Blu-ray, DVD, 4K Ultra HD, and Digital release of Guy Ritchie’s live-action Aladdin, but also the Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, and Digital release of the original 1992 animated Aladdin as a new Walt Disney Signature Collection release, both on 9/10. Note that the Digital releases are due on 8/17. Let’s break it down...

Aladdin (2019) will include Dolby Atmos audio and the following extras: Aladdin’s Video Journal: A Fantastic New Point of View, Guy Ritchie: A Cinematic Genie, A Friend Like Genie, the Desert Moon deleted song, 6 deleted scenes (Falling Petals Into OJ, Jafar’s Magic Orrery, Anders’ Gift, Wrong Wishes, Silly Old Fool, and Post Yam Jam Debrief), bloopers, and 3 music videos (Speechless, A Whole New World, and Un Mundo Ideal).

We’ve got a quick but terrific update for you today…

As you know, Jeff Nelson, Brian Ward, and I held the Inside an Indie Studio: Shout! Factory panel at Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday night, and we announced a ton of great titles that Shout! and Scream are working on for release in the months ahead (through March 2020).

From Shout!, you can expect The Anne Bancroft Collection (includes Don’t Bother to Knock, The Miracle Worker, The Pumpkin Eater, The Graduate, Fatso, To Be or Not to Be, Agnes of God, and 84 Charing Cross Road), Twins (1988), The Wizard: Collector’s Edition (1989), Brewster’s Millions: Collector’s Edition (1985), and a vinyl re-issue of Mystery Science Theater 3000: Clouds in the Sky. All right, we’ve got a big update for you today, with lots of news, a few rumors, and some announcements too. But first...

I’ve just posted my in-depth review of Shout! Factory’s long-awaited Space: 1999 – The Complete Series Blu-ray set, which marks the first time Year Two of the series has been available on the format here in the States. It includes all 48 remastered episodes (sourced from the recent Network remaster) with a bunch of legacy extras and some good new content too. You’ll find that here.

Also here at The Bits today, we’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List with some new titles that we have reason to believe are coming (more on that in a minute), along with pre-orders for a couple of titles we’ve already confirmed are coming (Men in Black International and more). We also have a street date for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 from our retail sources (tentatively look for it on 9/24). [Read on here...]

Let’s run down some of the latest Blu-ray and DVD announcements this week...

The big news is that Scream Factory has announced a cool set of FIVE “limited-run” Blu-ray titles (1,000 copies each) that will only be available from the Shout! Factory website (click on the following title links to pre-order). They include a double feature of Deathstalker (1983)/Deathstalker II (1987) and Up from the Depths (1979) due on 8/30, and Message from Space (1978), Timewalker (1982), and The Velvet Vampire (1971) on 9/27. They’re being released as a bit of an experiment by Scream/Shout, partly because new HD masters were available, but also because they want to see if there’s interest/demand for such obscure, deep catalog material. If it turns out there is, they’ll probably make these kind of limited releases a more regular thing.  [Read on here…]
