All right, in the last 24 hours I’ve managed to get a trio of new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray reviews finished and posted here at the site. They include Luke Scott’s Morgan from 20th Century Fox, Clint Eastwood’s Sully from Warner Bros., and Len Wiseman’s Underworld from Sony. Morgan arrived in stores two weeks ago, Sully just this week, and Underworld streets next Tuesday. All three discs are well worth a look, but the best film of the lot is definitely Sully. It’s also a rare full 4K release with HDR and a great Dolby Atmos sound mix. Do give them a look.  [Read on here…]

In other news today, we’d be remiss if we didn’t take a moment to acknowledge the current state of actress Carrie Fisher, better known as Princess Leia from the Star Wars films. Fisher was apparently flying home from London to L.A. yesterday and suffered a massive heart attack. The latest reports are that she’s currently hospitalized in Intensive Care in critical but stable condition. So our thoughts, prayers, and good Force vibes are certainly with her and her family in hopes of a full recovery. You can read more here at Variety.

And really, that’s about it for this week. Given the holiday this weekend, our regular daily news posts next week are probably going to be fairly light and/or infrequent. However, we are definitely going to keep posting reviews. I have several more new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray reviews to post, and Tim has some more new Blu-ray reviews in the works for you too. I’m also using these 4K title reviews to evaluate Oppo’s new UDP-203 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player which, let me tell you, is pretty damn terrific so far. It’s chewing through these 4K titles (and regular Blu-rays too) with speed and ease, and the video and audio quality are fantastic. Rest assured, I’ll have a full review of the unit here at The Bits soon. We’ve got another new special feature column or two coming next week as well.

So with that, we’ll sign off until Monday. From all of us here at The Digital Bits, to all of you and your family and friends wherever you may be, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
