All right, it’s not officially announced yet but we expect it to be at any time. At left you can see the official final cover artwork for Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse on 4K Ultra HD. It’s available for pre-order now on Amazon (see this link) and the street date is listed as 3/19 (SRP $38.99 but Amazon has it listed for just $22.95, which is a whopping 41% off). We don’t know yet what the HDR will be, but you can certainly expect Dolby Atmos audio. You can also bet that this film is going to look amazing in high dynamic range.

We don’t yet know if there will be a Blu-ray 3D release in the States, but stay tuned. We’ll post the official details as soon as they come in.

Before we continue, we’ve got three new Blu-ray reviews for you today, including Tim’s look at the Out of Time: Special Edition from MVD and All the Colors of the Dark (1972) from Severin Films. Dennis has also checked in with his thoughts on So Dark the Night (1946) from Arrow Academy. Enjoy! [Read on here...]

Hannibal (4K Ultra HD)We’ve also got another bit of great news on the 4K Ultra HD front: Kino Lorber Studio Classics has just joined the 4K party with their first licensed 4K title: Ridley Scott’s Hannibal (2001) from MGM! The disc was mastered from a new 4K scan, features a new HDR/SDR color grade by cinematographer John Mathieson, and will carry over lots of the original Blu-ray special edition content (much of it produced by our old friend Charles de Lauzirika). Look for it to street on 4/30. We’ll add the Amazon pre-order link when it goes live.

With Kino’s entry, that makes two new studios that have joined 4K in the last couple of weeks (the most recent being Flicker Alley). We hope this is just the start of a new trend on indie studio 4K releases!

Now then… we’ve gotten a great response from readers in our poll of digital streaming hardware and services, but please keep the answers coming. Once again, we’re looking to hear from all of you what your answers are to these questions: What set-top device do you use to access your favorite streaming content? And most importantly are there any services you can’t access on that device (if so, which ones)? We want to hear from both US and international readers (and if you’re outside the US, please tell us where you are). Please let us know what you think over the next few days by replying with your thoughts to either this post on Twitter (via @BillHuntBits) or this post on Facebook. This will be the topic of a future My Two Cents column here on The Bits, so we really appreciate your input.

One last 4K note today: We’ve posted the latest update of our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits with all the latest upcoming titles, street dates, and pre-order links. There are lots of great titles coming in 2019, so please keep track of them there and shop with our Amazon links whenever you’re able – doing so helps us keep the site going and we do appreciate such support!

Finally, one last note: I’m very pleased to see Damien Chazelle’s First Man land in the Number 1 spot in NPD VideoScan’s latest Blu-ray/4K sales chart. The film is a masterpiece and I’m glad to see so many more people discovering what they missed in theaters. You can read my review of the film in 4K here. I hope you all enjoy it!

That’s all for now. Stay tuned…
