Lionsgate sets SING STREET for 4K, plus Disney announces MANDALORIAN & GROGU for 4K & BD, and Warner Archive reveals its August slate!
All right, we’ve got a TON of new disc reviews here at the site: Our crack review team has been spinning discs and grinding away on a ton of new reviews. I’ll post a full list of the most recent here tomorrow, but we’ve got some major announcement news to cover here first this afternoon. So in the meantime, be sure to check our review page (click here) for the latest and watch for more new reviews each day.
All right, folks…
The big news today is that our friends at Lionsgate Limited have just announced the 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray release of John Carney’s Sing Street (2016) on 8/11! And get this: A VHS version is also going to be available that same day! The 10th Anniversary release will include the Lionsgate Limited “extra mini-documentary” called The Risk of Rock & Roll: Going Back to Sing Street, and legacy material that includes Making Sing Street, a video discussion with John Carney and Adam Levine, cast audition footage, the theatrical trailer, TV spots, B-roll footage, and the Drive It Like You Stole It music video. The 4K will also feature Dolby Vision HDR with a new Dolby Atmos mix. You can see the cover artwork at left. And it’s now available for pre-order on Lionsgate Limited at this link. This is one of those films that just makes me happy—I love it right down to the ground. So I’m very glad to see Lionsgate bringing it to 4K disc. Another Holy Grail title: check!
And I should take a moment to note here: If you’re a subscriber to The Bits’ Patreon page, you’ve known that this title was coming for a while now! So if you’re not already a subscriber, you can do so for as little as $6 a month and you get even better deals for signing up for a whole year. With all the problems we’ve had with AI companies scraping our website to train their AI models, and with the decline in Amazon affiliate sales, our Patreon has become a lifeline in terms of keeping The Digital Bits’ mission to advocate for physical media alive going forward. So whether you’re new to The Bits or you’ve been a reader since the beginning way back in 1997, if you love what we do, please consider subscribing (click here). Paramount lists Primal Fear & Major League for 4K Ultra HD, plus a new Star Wars movie announced & Tom Cruise teams up with Warner
We’re just chiming in here quickly again today with a few more pieces of industry news…
The first is physical media related: Paramount Home Entertainment has just listed Gregory Goblit’s Primal Fear (1996) as a new 4K Ultra HD Paramount Presents release on 3/26.
Paramount has also listed David S. Ward’s Major League (1989) for release in 4K Ultra HD and 4K UHD Steelbook format on 4/2 in honor of the film’s 35th anniversary.
We don’t have further details on these yet, but we except the studio to make an official announcement very soon. You can see the cover artwork at left and also below the break. [Read on here...]

Criterion’s December includes Until the End of the World, plus 007 4K art, Lion King (2019) & new BD/4K
All right, the big news today is that our friends at the Criterion Collection have just announced their December Blu-ray and DVD release slate. And it includes a film that I’ve been waiting for a long time on Blu-ray... the extended director’s cut of Wim Wenders’ melancholy sci-fi road movie Until the End of the World.
I have so much love for the film and managed to record a TCM showing of it a couple years ago on my DVR. I’m glad I’ll finally be able to free up the drive space! Here’s the full slate...
Look for Stephen Roberts’ The Story of Temple Drake (Spine #1006 – Blu-ray and DVD) and Ronald Neame’s Tunes of Glory (Spine #225 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 12/3, followed by Wim Wenders’ Until the End of the World (Spine #1007 – Blu-ray and DVD) and Kelly Reichardt’s Old Joy (Spine #1008 – Blu-ray and DVD) on 12/10. We’ve updated the relevant pages of our Criterion Spines Project here at The Bits accordingly. [Read on here...]
