Greenland 2 date, new Imprint boxes, Abbott and Costello in 4K, Is This Thing On?, Blue Underground’s Fire and Ice 4K teaser & more!

We’ve got a few more great new Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD release announcements for you here today to close out the week…

First up, we’ve confirmed that Lionsgate will be dropping both Ric Roman Waugh’s Greenland (2020) and Greenland 2: Migration (2026) in 4K Ultra HD on 3/31. The Greenland 4K release is a US first, and of course the sequel will also be released on Blu-ray.

Imprint Films has announced three new Limited Edition Blu-ray box sets for release in April, including Essential Film Noir: Collection 6—with Naked Alibi (1954), Ring of Fear (1954), Hell’s Island (1955), and Flame of the Islands (1956)—Tales of Adventure Collection 10—featuring The Magic Carpet (1951), Sudan (1945), Salome (1953), The Sword of Ali Baba (1965), and the bonus film 1001 Arabian Nights (1959)—and Tales of the Wild West Collection 2—with 5 Card Stud (1968), Will Penny (1968), Something Big (1971), The Revengers (1972), and Posse (1975). The street date for all three is 4/29, and they’re limited to 1500 copies each.

Kino Lorber Studio Classics has set the Abbott and Costello film Hold That Ghost (1941) for release on 4K Ultra HD on 3/28.

Also coming from KLSC in 4K UHD for their Kino Cult label is Paul Harrison’s The House of Seven Corpses (1973). This is in conjunction with Dark Force Entertainment. Look for that on 4/21.

Speaking of which, the other day we mentioned Deaf Crocodile’s 4/21 release of Marcell Jankovics’ Song of the Miraculous Hind (2002) on Blu-ray—it’s actually a 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray release, which is even better! [Read on here...]

Meanwhile, Bradley Cooper fans will be pleased to learn that 20th Century Studios and Fox Searchlight will be releasing his Is This Thing On? (2025) on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 3/17.

Fox Searchlight is also currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton’s Little Miss Sunshine (2006), yet it appears that no 4K disc is planned. Go figure.

How is it again that we’re getting Hold That Ghost (1941) in 4K Ultra HD but not Little Miss Sunshine? Oh yeah, Disney. Honestly, Disney either needs to start getting more serious about physical 4K Ultra HD catalog releases, or they need to start getting serious about licensing their deep catalog to boutique labels. Because the current status quo is ridiculous.

In other release news, Blue Underground has dropped the first teaser for their long-awaited 4K Ultra HD restoration of Ralph Bakshi’s Fire and Ice (1983). You can see it below, and the physical disc release details are reportedly coming soon.

Amazon MGM and Alliance Entertainment have revealed that they’ll be releasing Amazon’s Fallout: Season Two (2025-26) on Blu-ray, DVD, wide-release 4K Ultra HD, and Amazon-exclusive 4K UHD. The street date is TBA.

Film Movement Classics has set Tsui Hark’s Shanghai Blues (1984) for 4K Ultra HD on 3/24.

For music fans, Decal Releasing is working on the Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD release of Baz Luhrmann’s Epic: Elvis Presley in Concert (2025). The street date is TBA.

And while we’re talking music, Rhino is releasing an expanded vinyl, CD, and Blu-ray box set of Van Halen’s 5150 (1986) album on 3/27. But the Blu-ray doesn’t include a lossless version of the album—it includes an upsampled HD version of the 92-minute concert film Live Without a Net (1986) instead, along with the music videos for the songs Dreams and Why Can’t This Be Love.

Finally today, this is Super Bowl weekend, and I strongly suspect that Seattle Seahawks fans are going to be fairly pleased with themselves by Sunday evening. But while I do hope for an entertaining game, the real draw for many cinephiles should be the trailers for forthcoming movies we’ll see during the broadcast. It seems likely that we’ll see new spots for Avengers: Doomsday, The Mandalorian & Grogu, Project Hail Mary, and probably more.
